Anybody here made the move?

I've had a PS3 for a couple of years, and i've only really bought 3 or 4 games for it in total, i hardly ever play on it which really defies the point of having a "gaming" console.

I'm quite into the GTA series, and was dissapointed when the DLC was for X Box only.

My brother doesn't have a console at the moment, so i was considering giving him the PS3 for X-Mas, and getting a 360 thats on offer.

Offer is £194 for 120gb 360 Elite, 2x Controllers, Forza, Pure, Batman And Lego (ok, Lego will be poo and probably Pure too!), and Silver Live subscription. (30 days free Gold)

Worth the swap?

I've considered changing to a 360 for a while, the only thing i'd really miss on the PS3 i think is BBC I-Player believe it or not, i work night shifts and its handy when i get home to catch up on programs i miss!

Pro's and con's?

Thanks :)

This can only go one way...sooo...IBTL

I personally think the Xbox 360 as a whole offers more as a proper hardcore games console. There is a better gaming experience to be had with the 360. The PS3 is great though but I just prefer the Xbawx.

You could still give your brother your current PS3 and get the Slim PS3 if you really want a new gadget! :D

is it really worth it just for GTA ?

if youve not bought many games for ps3 then will you buy many for the xbox ? maybe your just going off gaming

I personally prefer gaming on the Xbox, Live! just works, everyone I know is on it, the interface is generally good and I much prefer the pad.

That said I still use and enjoy my PS3, just more as a media machine with the odd exclusive game.

I like them both to be frank, both have pros and cons, I honestly couldn’t say that my 360 is better than my PS3 though, and vice-versa – so if you can, keep them both, as there may be a time in the future that a game comes out on one machine and you want to play it.

The biggest failings of both systems for me though are – the online features of the PS3 (it’s is ****e!) and the hardware of the 360 (loud and unreliable), everything else is far too minor to really care about. One thing I did worry about before getting my PS3, was the limiting nature of the 360’s media.

Now, you will no doubt get a 360 fanboy, or maybe more pick up on this, but just look at Forza 3 – you only got a decent chunk of content if you loaded a second disc! I personally think that as we move forward, the limited capacity of DVDs will see even more games being released like this, and whilst I agree it’s not a huge issue, it still makes me wonder if it means we aren’t getting the quality visuals the console is capable of…

But hey, back to my recommendation, keep them both if you can, as not only wont you miss anything, you get to sit on the fence and watch the fanboys fight it out; and that is always a laugh :p

If you can comfortably afford it then I say do it tbh, from your original post you sound like you need a change, I love the PS3 but it's not for everyone, sometimes it's just nice to try something different and maybe MS's 'Live' service is more your cup of tea and might help light the old gaming flame, at the very least you'll be able to play though the GTA episodes plus catch up on some old exclusives, plus the fact that your brother gets a console out of it is pretty cool.

Also if you do get the bundle give Pure a chance, it is actually a very good game and highly underrated.

Really dude you need to first decide whether or not there are any exclusive games for the 360 and ask yourself if its worth buying for these games alone. Generally speaking there is not much between the consoles, i think the PS3 has better media accessibility through blue ray i player etc, but the xbox's online play is far superior ( for now :P ).
Im not a fanboy I enjoy both consoles but really seems to me like your a very very casual gamer, and thats why I suggest you take a look at the games and weigh up the pro's and con's for yourself. I know this post is very watery in a sense but none of us can tell you buying or keeping either would be the right move. Though I would say if you dont play 1 very often deffinetly do not keep both.

If you plan to play online a lot and have friends with an Xbox then you'll enjoy it. If not well I can't see much point as the games/consoles are not so different apart from the exclusive games which are pretty even across both consoles.

I wouldn't bother considering the amount of games you've bought... Do you think if you like the 360 better you will play more games? Do a lot of your friends have 360s?

"The 360's best games are multiplatform, where as on the trey Modern warfare just blends in with the rest of the great exclusives, thats why 95% of Xbox lag users are playing MW2 right now. Cos you ain't got no games"

£199 is mighty tempting right now as a bluray player for downsairs, half tempted to whack singstar with it and pretend to buy it for a xmas present for the mrs.

Misleading thread title is misleading!

But if you feel that the 360 now holds more options for you from a gaming and entertainment perspective then yeah I'd say by all means switch over. But I guess the question is would you buy more games for it, if you've only ever bought 3 or 4 games for the PS3 would you actually use the 360 more or not.
