PS3 > 360

I don't buy Blu-Ray films, haven't used the Blu-Ray feature on the PS3 yet. I've got a surround sound system which although is connected to the PS3, still hasn't really been used as a DVD Player.

X-Box seems to have the same games on offer as the PS3 and more (aside from Gran Turismo).

Plus point for me is that if theres a game on the PS3, i'll get my brother to buy it or go halves with him and pinch the PS3 back :D

The package on the Elite just seems too good to turn down..

Don't forget things like 12 months XBL Gold membership to play online though, approximately £39.99 ... not a lot I know but still too much for some to pay who just think the whole idea of paying to play online is too much.

To be fair, this can be hand for as little as £25 now.

Phil - I'd just go for it mate, just keep your PS3 back for a while. If you find out you don't like the 360 as much as the PS3 or don't really want it then you can just sell on the 360 and get close to what you paid for it back and then just go back to your PS3. If you find out you love it, then just sell the PS3 on.

At most you'd lose about £30 if you had to switch back, but you won't need to buy a Xbox LIVE subscription for the first month as you'll get it for free to try it out.

ok here we go.

pros of swapping to a 360:

Better social network with people online

Forza 3(if you like racing games), GOW3, and other exclusive games

Natal coming out next year

Cons:

No free online play anymore

Noiser console

No more blu ray movies

Lack of third party peripherals

Miss out on GT5, GOW3, Uncharted 2, and other exclusive games.

360 being more unreliable than a ps3.

Above is some of the things i can come up with. i tried to point out things that are factual rather then opinions. IMO you should get both.

You will always miss out if you only own just one of them regardless mate.

Where from, lol, I usually just pay online with XBoxLive, I'm being robbed

An auction site :) Three of my mates get me to buy them for them every year, alway in the region of £25 - £27. It's generally very good, most of them send you the key immediately rather than having to wait for Royal Fail.

Yeah I have just found some, sellers have very good ratings as well, I think I'll give this a go in March when mine expires, cheers for the info there mate ;) never thought to look there at all to be honest.

You dont need to go to auction sites. there are specific websites that just send you a code within minutes of buying it via paypal

Paying for Live doesn't bother me really, especially if you can get it for £25 legit.

I've got the console on reserve at a local store today so i've got a few hours to think it over!

Just make sure to get the Elite.

Saves you money in the long run. Having that big hard drive means you can have all your games installed meaning that the console will be silent! :)

EDIT - Silly me, you are getting the Elite!

Well i went and picked up the Elite today!

Pretty impressed with what i've experienced with it so far (Forza 3 mainly!).

Con's so far over the PS3 is mainly the console noise whilst running, installing the game to the HD removed this problem however.

Yeah, installing games is a major plus that massively reduces noise outputted by the console. It's a pain having to install games but games load quicker also which is a plus!

I've considered changing to a 360 for a while, the only thing i'd really miss on the PS3 i think is BBC I-Player believe it or not

If you DL the Windows Media version of BBC iPlayer programs on your PC then right-click and add them to Media Player (then close it) you can stream them to your 360.

It's not perfect but it's something.

I made the switch when Fifa 10 came out and have not regretted it, I only bought a PS3 for GT but got sick of waiting and the PS3 always seem to be the fat kid when it comes to cross console releases, always getting picked last, so if you can live without Uncharted, MGS, GoW, GT etc then go get yourself a 360!

Although if you play online with friends then get the format which your friends play.

i had a PS3 last year, bought it for GTA4 and a couple of other games, didn't play it much, it was too cumbersome IMO, i soon sold it. I have owned my 360 for about 3 weeks and i use it all the time, probably used it more now than i used the ps3 as long as i owned it lol. The controller is nicer to use on the 360 and i prefer the interface, online is a better experience too, though you have to pay for the privilege.
