PS3 a week on....

and also most of the game run better on 360, except for a tiny few

thats true for a lot of ports from xbox360 to PS3 unfortunately, but importantly Oblivion apparently runs better and looks better on the ps3 yay :D And of course no 3 rings of death on the PS3 :)

Anything's possible, it's a small county, and only so many of us have that fancy electricity to run these consoles on. I even have running water!

Gerald mean anything to you ;)

Just setting up a second US account as per the sticky, hope its good :)

Actually the name rings a bell, but more to do with my Brother I think, than me. ;)

Yep, the US account is far better. Some of those demos are big though, so hope you don't have a bathwidth cap! ;)

I wouldn't pay any attention to McManicMan's posts. He'll just try to bitch and critisize the PS3 wherever he feels he can, whether what he says is true, or not. We are all well aware that earlier ports for the PS3 were below standard. It's probable they were rushed out at the end, so they'd have titles available to buy. Porting is never the best way to get the best from a system, especially when the system is so different. Nevertheless, we, home users, don't care about that, crap is crap.

Also, that was then, and this is now. Two cross platform games I'm playing at the moment are DiRT and Sega Rally. They play fine. I understand that R6 is better on the PS3?

Point being, things are coming along now.
No, the PS3 isn't woefully lacking in titles, and no, all cross platform games do not run way worse on the PS3.

I wonder if McManicMan even has a PS3 sometimes, to make him qualified to make these ridiculous statements.

FYI - that screen and with no disrespect meant, your audio probably wont show the benefits of BR films anyway, and those two films arent the best transfers either - so its more a case of I wouldnt start there in the first place :)

with a Full HD lcd, or Plasma/Projector you will notice a lot of difference on well mastered BR's and on top of that listening to the audio through an HDMI enabled amp, the equipment will take away the most benefits

Either way buy a BR off a website for £16-17 watch it twice before selling it on for a £10 and you have spent less than a cinema ticket (and got double the entertainment by watching twice)

Depends which way you look at it really :D

I had come to the same conclusion

I agree with McManicMan in this instance regardless of whatever other comments he may of made elsewhere. The situation is getting much better but up until now multiplats have been better on 360.

I also agree that this means jack **** to the average consumer, a single console owner would be fine with just a PS3 imo.

*edit* Also a very good original review by the OP.

so i tell the truth and you critisize me, lmao, who's making ridiculous statemants now then,

BTW i did own one for approx 3months but got fed up of the rubbish ports and delayed games, next year i may buy another we all know how anal ps3 fanboys can be about facts that they cannot swallow, and not once have i not stated something which isn't true

truth hurts and the OP is spot on ;)

Oh no, are you talking about the bluray movies the OP got?
My Spiderman Trilogy Bluray Boxset just arrived yesterday, and I've not tried it yet.

Is it a poor transfer? :(

To the op though, it's true what FrankJH says there about transfers. My PS3 came with Click, and although it's quite detailed, the amount of grain in it is offputting. I've bought quite a few blurays of late, but in all honesty, the best quality one, is the free Casino Royale one we got with the PSN. I still find that mindblowing in the quality department. I am expecting though, that new releases from now on will look better on bluray. Quite a few films have just been remastered and put on on bluray. Reminds me of when DVD was new. I've still got loads of titles here from 1998, and the quality of some of them wasn't up to much... but things soon improved.

Saying that, I do still love it. For the most part, they're great, and big improvement over DVD. Whereby it's partially true what you say, about when you get into a film, do you really notice, yes, I do. I watched Next on bluray a week or two ago, and while it was running, I did forget I was watching a HD movie, as I was engrossed. Then it'll cut to an outside shot, off the top of a cliff or something, looking down, and it's enough to make me go "wow" and I'm immediately reminded I'm watching a HD title.

Once you get used to them, and you go back to SD, it's even more noticable.

I'm not going to get drawn into a big, long, argument with you, about the nonsense that you consistently spread through the forums.

This "truth" that you say you've stated, in this thread would have to be this single line

and also most of the game run better on 360, except for a tiny few

Now, it is of course packed with fact, and is a well constructed, and nicely written argument into the current state of the Playstation 3. This "tiny few" of which you speak, isn't the most accurate number I've ever come across, in fact, I find the entire review that you took the time to write there, almost entirely inaccurate.

To start with, there were some pretty shoddy, and disappointing ports for the Playstation 3. No arguing with that. Some of the earlier games and demos I tried were bloody awful.

As I pointed out though, things have changed. I've bought quite a few games of late. They look and perform great. I've been delighted. Cross platform games like DiRT, Sega Rally and Stranglehold (only seen demo so far) all seem to run and look great to me.

I aren't going to go on about it any more. It's just than whenever a pointless anti PS3 comment appears, it often seems to be attached to your name, to the point that when I see your name on a thread, I know what to expect.

For the most part, in the last month or so, the forums have become a lot better, IMO. Instead of people bitching, there are proper conversations, hell, even Jihad is getting another PS3!! lol If you don't own a PS3 any more, why do you feel the need to trash other peoples PS3 thread, based on your out of date experience? It's just a shame... no, never mind... that's it, I'm out.

Nope, but it does have a similar method of death.
Really hate this frankly stupid excuse that's said here on these forums. My Xbox360 is still going fine after thousands of hours, my PS3 died after much less.

My 360 has been AOK since launch. What happened to your PS3?

Nice review.

I would love to go out and buy a PS3 as I love consoles and the latest gadgets, but for me there is no need atm.

I have a 360 and all the games I would like to play on PS3 are available on 360.

Think I'll have to get one for MGS4 though :)

i dont think its a fair comparision. as far as i can see, all indications are putting the ps3 failure rate in at under 1%. compared to the 360 which is at least 35%, i dont see why you think its so unfair to comment on the 360 problems?

my ip35 pro died after 13 days. im still getting it replaced and id still recommend them to people. mine dide because i was unlucky, just as you and your ps3 were, mine didnt die because it was a practically a statistical certainty as it is with the 360's:)

how can true comments be pointless, lmao

V1N.

i never trashed the thread, at least 2 people before me made "anti ps3 posts". If you cannot accept that then fine, doesn't bother me in the slightest, lol, at least they are true comments just like all my facts nd i'm sorry it upset you so much, its only a games system, but we all know that over half the multi platform games on the PS3 are simply not upto the same standard as their 360 counterparts......at the moment as i stated

and since when not owning a PS3 suddenly mean people cannot post anything bad or good about it?, if i start posting good things do i suddenly become your best PS3 buddy :)

If the PS3 is worthy of a good comment i shall post it, like i really do like the console as a unit its a smart piece of kit and i've always said that, its just IMHO i think "at present" the 360 is better for multi-format

its just IMHO i think "at present" the 360 is better for multi-format

Well it would be if it stayed on long enough without dying (truth hurts?)

See that is a really silly thing of me to say and if I had any brains I wouldnt say it because I know what happens on these forums when people start going on about the 360 dying all the time, or the PS3 having no games, or the Wii being a glorified toy, it makes threads like these end up as fanboy wars.

Yes we know there were a lot of bad 360 ports that turned up on the PS3 in the early days (still are now if its an EA game) but game dev's seem to be getting to grips with things now, as pointed out, DiRT and Sega Rally are pretty much Identical on both systems, so things are looking up, I think thats all V1N was trying to point out mate.
