Howdy, been looking at getting a PS3 for a while (despite the rather boring range of games at the moment... but I have faith in the future that there will be enough AAA titles to warrant the purchase).

I probably wont buy it for a few months yet, but I'm concerned about backwards compatibility.

I notice that the 40GB version is the only version left on sale in the UK and it isn't backwards compatible with PS2 games, but is it compatible with PS1 games?

Thanks.

On a side note, are Sony actually sorting out the rumble in the pads?

All versions of PS3 play PS1 games (including the 40gb you are thinking of getting.

You can get "Dual Shock 3" (aka Sixaxis + rumble) in Asia. There is no exact date for release outside the Asian territories at present, beyond a vague Marchish date for USA that may have been mentioned at some point..

There is rumours that there will be a new version/bundle/SKU/whatever of ps3 in USA with the dual shock controllers in the box instead of normal ones. Just rumours at present though.

All PS3s will play PSone games with no problem, it's completely software based emulation.

The rumble has present sorted since last November. The controllers are only available in Asia at the moment though. Should be over here by Easter if you'd rather wait than import.

Ah cool thanks for that guys. I think I'll wait for a while due and pick one up when I've got some spare cash, hopefully there will be rumble by then :)
