PS3 bc list

Is it only me who sees that PS2 games running on the PS3 hardware in emulation instead of the older Emotion Engine (remember Sony marketing says PS3 is 40 times more powerful than PS2) as a big benefit? The only problem would be the support as we see in the compatability list, at launch there are a lot of games listed as problematic or just not listed at all. As this compatability gets better we can but only benefit from the PS3 increasing framerates and who knows what else they will add in newer firmwares for PS2 game emulation.

If you look at the PSP, it's also emulating PS1 games and does it very very well.

No worries but to put my fragile mind at rest can anyone confirm
GT3 and GT4, R-Type Final and the SSX games work pretty please?

Are there loads of PS2 games that work? Websense is blocking the PS website here at work?

I need my ICO and Shadow of the Colossus fix.

Doh! Missed that. Sorry :D

GT3 - With minor issues - hmmm.....
GT4 - With minor issues - hmmm.....
R-Type Final - Plays with no issues - cool
SSX - only game thats supported is SSX On Tour, and that plays but with major issues - Gutted, I only liked the 1st too :(

Oh noes!!!111

Final Fantasy 7 doesnt work at all :(

It's wierd that some games that are like 500 years old work, yet fairly recent ones dont work at all

Hopefully that bodes well for them releasing the super-duper spangly new version of FFVII. Hehehe.

Yeah it will be a good thing, because with the PS2 hardware in the PS3, you get no benefits at all. Infact games can look slightly worse, as running through HDMI every jaggie is crisp and clear, the way god intended HDTV lol
I have seen a few folk say that the PS2 is better to play PS2 games on, because it isn't quite as crisp, and or using your PS2 scart connections.

Erm.... 'entire Playstation library, and the majority of the Playstation 2 library' ring a bell? They got the second bit right, but if they can't even get FFVII working right, then that's not exactly the 'entire library' is it >_>

Ah, you see. Something MUST be up. If you asked people "what was the most memorable PSone game?" a load would probably say FFVII right away. I certainly would.

Not really interested in buying one but no Resident Evil 2, Parasite Eve or Fear Effect... And what the hell is this about?

To have the best experience when playing your PlayStation®2 titles, we recommend that:
You avoid connecting any non-essential USB peripherals to your PS3
You avoid the use of "60Hz" and network modes (which may experience noticeable graphical corruption not present in the main game)
You should skip optional FMV sequences (a small number of games have graphical corruption in one or more video sequences).

A maximum of seven players can play (non-network) multiplayer PS2 games.

So games like Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 was a worthless port then as it uses network play and loads of FMV...

I'm a bit confused why some games have 2-3 versions and one version plays perfectly but another doesn't (E.G. Flatout 2). What did they do to change the game between the versions?
I can't believe they didn't make all Final Fantasy game compatibility a priority. It is one of the most popular game franchises on any console.

true but would you want to play it on a HD tv anyway

i cant imagine how horrible it will look :(

God of War 2 - if i buy this and i'm using HDMI at 720p will it work or am i going to have to hook up the normal AV leads just to play a PS2 game?
