PS3 Beta Event in Birmingham

MS and MS: PR are really under-rated - great fun games, though later levels the AI is heavily stacked against you. MS: PR is a really beautiful game...

Shame I missed this - got a friends call re my miss call about this about going - if only he had checked yesterday I would have gone :/

ps3ud0

The only thing I tried in 3D was GT5, which was apparently the tamest 3D effects of the lot?

Bit of a shame really, but I really couldn't be arsed queuing up for the 3DTV's when the normal ones had no/short queues!

The only thing I properly queued for was Motorstorm on that **** OFF BIG ~70" television - love it :D my little sis said I was a couple a seconds ahead of the leader till right at the end when I crashed twice - fail :( no giefing new telly for me!

Nice to get some reports back guys.

Those of you going today enjoy yourselves.
Id like more feedback on GT5 3D.

We know it doesnt have many "POP OUT" effects and I can understand they dont want to make the 3D effects in it over the top or hard on the eyes in a way that would distract from the driving or quickly become annoying but if any guys going today can compare "Tarmac Cam" in 3D and the "Cockpit Cam". For instance does the cockpit view in 3D give any more realisim in the depth perception. Do the dials and dash have actual physical depth and on track cam does the draw distance and ability to hit apexs feel I guess more natural with the depth perception?
I think with 3D the perception sometimes is always to expect amazing out of screen effects and when experincing 3D this shouldnt always be expected. For me its a question does it make the game more satisfying or more engrossing?

Some reports say that the Toscana track has nice 3D effects from the dirt off the back of the car and dust particles kinda floating. Appreciate if anyone still going can get behind an AI car and check this out on that track.

KZ3 seems to be quite awesome and with Move/3D support and 7.1 its likely to be one heck of a benchmark for what PS3 can do.

Setting off shortly, waiting on my mate arriving. 300 miles to go! :)

I'm at the evening sesh tonight, 5pm to 9pm. I'll be wearing a Grey Shirt with a No Fear tshirt underneath with a Green skull on it. I'm the big tall git with a Scottish accent :D

Will see what I can do for you Latte. Hoping to win that 3DTV, however my practice sessions on MS Pacific Rift would suggest it's unlikely! :p

Thanks Windle, aye cheers pal.
Will keep an eye on your twitter, really have a great time.

If you can get some photos and see if the "weather temp" is now gone or is in this build?
Its hard to tell in videos because of the screen contrast, best to focus your cam if taking vids on a high contrast area first it might make the recording duller but have less glare.
That a problem I seen on some video at GTP.

Look forward to your reports.

The top leader board time was around 1 minute 40 seconds. It's best to practise on the non-competitive screens first as the queue for the tournament run is about 30 mins. This is probably really obvious advice.:D

There is an increased level of depth of field as you can perceive the distance from the front of the bumper to the steering wheel which provides a better perception of depth. The dials and dash have physical depths as well. The Enzo speed dials looked completely flat on screen but the contrast of the curved arch of the dash board appeared like it was hanging over the speedos yet it was still clearly behind the steering wheel. The 3D pop effect was quite prominent in ****-pit view and you are probably right about the lack of it on track due to distractions.

MotorStorm 3 the 3D was prominent and suddenly having a much greater depth of field does take some getting used to. Some of the buildings crashing down were quite distracting but I think this mainly because of the initial: “Wow look at that!”

Lol no I havent, I did very badly at the MSA trial though.:o

I did one practice run and got 1:52 which wasn't bad. I wanted another practice but it didn't seem worth the wait. I entered the competition and was very pleased with myself to get 1:46. At the time that put me 5th. I think 1:42 was #1 then.

I'll post more about the day when I get home
