PS3 blu-ray drive problems :(

hi all i have a PS3 with a dead drive i think, it's an old 60Gb and now it won't read any disks blu-ray/ps3/dvd or cd i don't even think the disk is spinning has anyone got any ideas please
 
You can buy a new laser for around £40, apparently they are quite easy to fit however i've had no experience so can't comment.
 
Very easy to fit, Fair few guides on the net. Don't just get the laser, Got for the whole mech and change that over, Will cost you about £60. (Done it myself)
 
That's great many thanks, another quick question a mate of mine has a 60Gb PS3 that has the yellow light problem and has since got another so would it be possible to swap the drives over and if so how much is a bricked PS3 worth?
 
Thanks for the offer mate but as i said i may already have one lined up just need to come to a deal with my mate as long as it will work
 
Not sure if the actual drives are swappable. But you could rip the laser mech out of that ps3 mate.

£60 or so a ylod ps3 is worth.
 
Mine is also. Since I put skate 3 in lol. Think it's on the way out. Will be my 2nd :o

Oh well.
