Hi there,

I'd like to get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for use with my PS3.

After searching around a bit, I quite like the look of the Microsoft Desktop Elite for bluetooth.
Are all bluetooth keyboards (and mice) supported by the PS3, or does it have to be a special compatible one?

Whilst I'm on the subject, are there are games out yet for the PS3 that support keyboard and mouse?

I've read in these forums that Resistance FOM doesn't, but what about other FPS, like COD3? If it supports keyboard and mouse, I may be a bit more tempted to get it, as it never came out for the PC.

What about upcoming games? If the keyboard and mouse are to be supported in future FPS games, I may well get PS3, rather than PC versions, in some cases at least, depending if the PC version is much better, and get this Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite Bluetooth to use with them.

In practice any Bluetooth keyboard or mouse should work. As bluetooth is a ratified standard. Same with headsets and otehr accessories.

As far as i know, in game, all games support the keyboard for any text input functions (Enter profile name, type text messages, that kind of thing). The keyboard also works for text entry in the XMB interface, and the mouse, additionally works in the web browser.

In terms of games the only game that I have heard of to support mouse keyboard movements for gameplay is the Unreal Tournament game coming out end of this year (I think). In the online mode you will be able to play PC players as well.

OK, thanks for your reply.

Actually, the new Unreal Tournament was going to be one of those I get for the PC anyway. Oh well, was hoping a few more would allow mouse and keyboard.

I guess, in practice, it's tough really, as the game is written assuming you'll be using a controller... so would be too easy with the faster aiming of a mouse... which is why something like the new Unreal game would allow it, as you'd be playing against "real" ;) people, also with a keyboard and mouse.
