PS3 (connecting online question) and DVD playback question?

I tried to register last night but it just sat on the logging on screen for ages :(

I had that problem when I tried to sign up the first time, I also had problems accessing the PSN Store but enabling PnP on my router fixed everything.

Edit: youstolemyid - Just install the 1.9 update, that includes all previous updates :)

Ok this is driving me nuts!!!! I try to register but it says the server connection has timed out and it gives me a error code 80711008

Then after 2 hours of trying it started to go through the register process but going from page to page was like a 56k modem going in reverse!!!!

Halfway through the server connection timed out and I was back at the PS3 Menu.

Any thoughts anyone??

Thundy.

Make sure you disable media sharing at first, then try setting your ports on your router like this

Playstation Network Required Ports
TCP 80
TCP 443
TCP 5223
UDP 3478
UDP 3479
UDP 3658

Remote Play Required Ports
TCP 80
TCP 443
TCP 5223
TCP 9293
TCP 10070-10080
UDP 3478
UDP 3479
UDP 3658
UDP 10070

If that doesnt work disable uPNP on your router and the PS3 (custom settings on wireless settings)

- Have you tried it with WEP/WPA security disabled to see if you can get a connection that way?
- Is the PS3 in the DMZ of the router?

It could be that some are already asked but I haven't got much time so did not read the whole thread.

Hi m8 I have not got a router at the moment I am plugging my cable modem directly into the PS3

Thundy.

Maybe you need a fixed IP address?
Have you turned off the cable modem? I need to turn it off and on when changing a computer or network card.
You can let the PS3 check for a connection in the options somewhere, have you done that?

Yes, but you need to go in to the modem config page and set up the PS3 so it has the correct port(s) open :)

Do u mean the setup page on the PS3 Menu?
No, you have to type the IP of the modem in your web browser (best to use a PC or Mac when doing this), then configure the modem from there.

If you post the model of the router I might be able to get a step by step guide for you :)

TIP: The IP of the modem should be on a label on the underneath.

http://community.eu.playstation.com/archive/index.php/t-101544.html

Seems like you have to reset your modem each time you transfer to another device, you of tried this but i thought it might help.

Have tried this and it still does not work It fines the internet and an ip address ok but fails when looking for the PSN.
