PS3 Connecting VGA / DVI

Search isn't available so apologies if this has been covered a few times.

My new HDTV turned up and is faulty

and I've already got rid of my old set in my bedroom so I wondered why I'm waiting can I attach my ps3 to my monitor via either VGA or DVI I have a V7 22" monitor if this helps?

No vga support on ps3 but dvi will work you need to buy yourself a hdmi to dvi lead.

That only applies to movies and not games, or games as well?

I'm not entirely sure, hence the question mark at the end.

From the Sony website..

Video output in HD requires cables and an HD-compatible display, both sold separately. Copy-protected Blu-ray video discs can only output at 1080p using an HDMI cable connected to a device that is compatible with the HDCP standard. HDMI cable not included. If a device that is not compatible with the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard is connected to the system using an HDMI cable, video and/or audio cannot be output from the system
