So, the misses treated me to a PS3 for xmas :D - quality piece tbh, much better than i thought

However..... when trying to get the thing to work online im getting errors, where as the PC and 360 have no probems at all.

Router is Zyxel NBG3185, 360 connects wirelessly no problems - yet when I use the PS3 im getting a 80028EA7 error whenever I try to setup my PSN account, it also fails on the internet connection test with error 80028E01 cannot connect to server :(

Anyone with any experience on these issues - I have googled and am currently battling my way through random posts on various PS3 boards

All I wanted for christmas is simplicity

I've had my PS3 for 6 months, and I've just had the exact same error when trying to log in to my PSN account

I'm hoping its their servers which are playing up, and not the PS3

(I've tried connecting via wireless and wired, rebooted sky/netgear router too)

this is ridiculous, its impossible to get this console online

plug in a wire and the thing dies, let it go wirelessly and it fails to find an internet connection

the internet browser works fine :p Still fails at "Internet connection" on the network test though

looks like a Sony problem from what im reading, i can browse the net pages, so its connecting OK, just something not letting me setup a PSN and thus play games :(

Weird - Ive not had any PSN issues other than trophy syncing but I think I got the same error message - I think its taking a hit considering its Christmas weekend and no doubt a lot of people are doing what you are doing.

When I got the PS3 online, I found it more simple than my PC so thats really unlucky - one good idea is to hard reboot the router...

ps3ud0

try forwarding these ports on your router TCP 4658, 4659 and UDP 4658 and 4659, is upnp enabled on your router? is your ps3 updated to the latest version 2.54 i think? if not is there anyway to could get a friend to do it then you could try again

Thanks for the replies - turns out it was a Sony issue for consoles not updated to the latest software

Mine was running 2.42 or something, but as the servers were playing up I couldnt get the update and thus a circle of misery

Im on now though, nice tbh - love the browser, surfing via the console is nice and relaxing

Played Motorstorm Pacific Rift, good fun - have R2 / LBP / FIFA 09 to crack on with as well
