I currently have a 28" Widescreen CRT. Its got no component input, but does have scart, S Video and composite

its currently connected by composite which obviously is the poorest of connections. Sony supply a scart adapator for this lead, is one of the 3rd party "scart leads" any better, or is it just the same lead but with the scart lead permanently soldered on ?

because as far as i can tell they both plug into the same socket, so surely they will output the same thing ?

the scart adaptor will just run composite through the scart socket instead. ie, exactly the same lol.

what you want for that tv is the ps3 rgb scart lead. I dont know if the 3rd party ones are better than the official lead, but just make sure its an rgb scart as rgb is the best connection for you:)

do sony do a rgb scart lead

done a trail through google for PS3 Scart and not had much luck. Couple of the usual suspect highstreet retailers have their own RGB scart leads, are these better than the composite leads then ?

didnt release the ps3 could change the output depending on whats connected.

also one other question ive got a non HDCP PC monitor, i cant hook the PS3 up to that can i ?

Yep, this is what you want. I believe you can even use a PS2 RGB Scart cable should you need to.
