PS3 disassembly

Thanks for pointing that out, as i don't own any of the next gen consoles yet i keep forgetting that the 360 has an external PSU.
So would the 360 be bigger than the PS3 if they built the PSU in?

If you put the 360's power brick along the back of it, the 2 of them work out the same size.

Some folk say they would rather a smaller console and a power brick underneath the TV cabinet.
Personally, i have quite a deep cabinet so it wouldn't be an issue for me, and also i have heard quite a few people saying they need to keep the PSU ventalated also.
Each to there own though.

I have to agree, I think the design of the PS3 is pretty good. I only discovered today that the HDD is very simple to upgrade if you ever need more space. Sony have placed the hdd at one side, and there is a door to pop open, remove a single screw and you can pull the drive out.

Looking forward to getting one :)

I have already chucked a 120GB drive in mine. It just takes five minutes and a 2.5" SATA HDD and you are done. Boot it back up and the system does the rest :)

hold on here does any sata drive work? what if i put a raptor in mine, would it load files faster? or a seagate 7200.10, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm this is interesting i might be buying a very large seagate drive and just saving a crapload of moves and stuff on it

Probably one of the best things about the PS3 imo oh and that its blutooth enabled not requiring offical products.

if its internal yeah but external on the other hand......;)

hold on if i connect say a seagate externally i would need an enclosure and how would you reccomend powering it? it would look nice if say i bought a black enclosure and would also make it easy to upgrade, its £70 for an 120gb drive if you want a 2.5" one for the same money you could get 3-4 times as much storage if you go for the external route, ill need to experiment and see what types of media files the ps3 can play first

What is it with you size obsessive people? :p
Oh I don't care at all, I just remember on this forum a load of PS2 fans commenting constantly about the XBox 1s size and thought it was ironic. Just an observation, liek I said it doesn't actually matter :)

Pretty amazing piece of kit, very well built and designed you have to say.

Internally it's stunning but it's a fugly beast outside.
