I have recently got a ps3 and I like most things about it, I like being able to play ps3 exclusive games, psplus etc

But one thing I don't like is the empty multiplayer games. I thought if I got a ps3, every game would have a load of players I thought unlike PC every game would have a thriving online community.

But I just got goldeneye reloaded and there's not a single person online. This is annoying.

This has put me off buying the games that aren't big names so the next games I'm buying are BF3, Killzone 3 and Resistance 3. Which I expect to all have a good community.

I'll still play the less well known single player games but I'm not going to bother with the online games anymore as it seems no one wants to play anything that isnt FIELD OF DUTY.

A bit of a whine post but w/e.

I think the problem is, with something like an online FPS there is no reason to play anything but the top games. Most players will stick with one or two titles for online, usually because they have friends that play it.

Its common sense - MP games are pretty much throwaway when the next popular one lands unfortunately COD decimates player numbers in any other FPS so its unlikely to be loads of players anywhere but the big hitters.

Pretty much the reason why I just dont play MP FPSes anymore, you have to be there at the start to really enjoy them.

ps3ud0

Killzone 3 should have a decent community as the multiplayer went free, although a limited version. It caps at a certain rank, but there should still be plenty of players. Unfortunately the framerate in Warzone, which is the most popular mode is pretty awful at times.

I've found quite a few older games are populated, as long as it's the only game/best of that type, they seem to have people on.

Modnation racers was old when I picked it up and the population was fine, Motostorm Apocalypse, same again. Not old, but Sonic and all star transformed has a good population and is not a big name game.

How popular were you really expecting Goldeneye to be online? :p
Based on how good the old one was for local multiplayer, I think anyone could be forgiven for thinking there would be an online community. Based on how rubbish it was from playing, I'm surprised it was even finished and released.
