Not sure if this has been posted yet.
I got it early this morning, and didn't spot it on here.

There'll be a firmware update tomorrow, to enable multiple PSN accounts to sign in at once from a single PS3, for a new multiplayer mode being added tomorrow to Resistance 2.

Looks like a PS3 firmware update is happening today or tomorrow, folks. We reported details on the upcoming Resistance 2 patch which includes a number of features, one being multiple PSN log-ins. Many of our readers correctly chimed in, saying this is a feature not possible with the current PS3 firmware.

We got confirmation of a pending PS3 firmware update through our comments section. Insomniac Games' James Stevenson responded to our post clarifying the situation. "Resistance 2 is the first game to fully log-in two PSN accounts. LBP only logs you in locally, and does not register both accounts as online through PSN. This is a big difference, and what is required for split-screen online co-op with other folks."

Here's the smoking gun: "And it was dependent on a Sony update, hence why it wasn't in when the game shipped." If the R2 patch is available on March 26th, then a new PS3 firmware update will be necessary today or tomorrow. Obviously it will allow for multiple PSN sign-ins, but will it feature any other improvements? Stay tuned.

Can't get that page to load here?

So what's it saying? The Resistance 2 update will go live tomorrow, but nobody will be able to use it until April? (which granted, isn't that long to wait now anyway)

Vin.

EDIT: OK, got it to load now. Hmmm, it says at the bottom
Sony couldn't confirm the release date or any other details about the 2.7 firmware at the time of writing.
Oh well, it gets here when it gets here then. One site reporting it could arrive late today, otherwise tomorrow, or that one saying maybe April.

Warhawk has splitscreen multiplayer online or offline for up to 4 players.

What it doesn't support (and this patch will allow for if Warhawk was patched) is for each of those 4 people to use their own separate PSN accounts when they play. At present they all play using the same username just with a '1' '2' '3' or '4' at the end and none of their stats are logged. This would allow you to say, have your PSN account on another persons PS3 and when playing splitscreen on their PS3 log in with your PSN account as well as theirs.

Wonder if this will have the rumoured voice chat messaging feature and those other little enhancements, like the faster in-game XMB and trophy viewing.

Unless that stuff was exposed as shenanigans I have no idea, didn't keep up with it!

The PS3 file system isn't FAT32 and can handle large files (>4GB) just fine, I only had to use my wireless network to get the files on the PS3 as my external drive had to be FAT32

Oh fair yea we have all our media on an external as my mates PS3 has no where near enough space. Suppose could make room for an individual file though.♠
