PS3 from the US of A

But What I want to know is, will the console censor certain games? I have read about how some foreign consoles censor games. Also, where would I be able to purchase Region A blu ray discs?

Some (theres a list somewhere about so do a search) BR disks are region free, i guess certain online places will sell Region A disks.
Not 100% sure but i have seen it that it goes by the location of the registered user. So if you have a UK account for example it may have censoring, but if like a lot of PS3 owners you have different accounts for different locations it may get round this. Also have read that using a Us/Japan save game may also get round it. Like i said not 100% sure

BR are region free? So i could play BR discs from england on it?

I'm starting to think that it may be better to purchase the console from the UK for the sake of warranty and also the fact that I will have problems purchasing american BR movies. However, I am now thinking that I could just ask my dad to buy me several games and a second controller as they are a little bit cheaper in the states.

The games seem to be about £10 cheaper than their english counterparts so if I buy 4 or five games then I think it will be worth it. What do you guys think, should I just purchase the UK version of the console?

Have a look at this list http://bluray.lindsite.dk/ it has been linked else where on this site (thats where i remembered it from), at the bottom of the list there's EU ones that play on region A (Us/Japan). As that is what you're looking for, hope it you helps out

Personally speaking I think it would be a lot less aggro for you in the long term if you just bought a UK unit.

This whole region thing is crap. I'm in Canada for a year and would love to pick up a PS3, they're between $650-700 dollars in the shops (say 300 pounds), but I can't because I would want to be able to just buy which ever blueray disk I want once I get home... ARGH!!! Perhaps by the time its a year old and i'm due to come home it'll be possible to chip it and i can watch uk BR movies...

if theyre region a you could always pop along to dvdworldusa.com and choose from the selection of blu ray titles there....

It's cheaper to buy an import blu-ray online (£17.99) than it is to go into a shop and buy on (£29).

You hit the nail on the head! Just ask him to buy you a PAL one when he gets back...

PS. It's no trouble getting US DVD's/BD's online.

I'm so confused as to what to do, why does life have to be so hard?
UK PS3, US games and peripherals :)

There you go, I've decided for you, now go and buy the bloody thing!

...are you sure he would get charged import tax if he brought it on the plane?

My parents are going back to the states for the summer and was considering asking them to bring me back a 8800GTX or R600....do you think they would have any problems bringing it back in their luggage?

Interesting.... Well that just made my mind up! Gonna go pick one up this weekend :)

Is there any chance this will change? I guess the UK price will come down once the novelty wears off... But then i'll save a fortune on buying the console here so I guess its a no brainer...

Well I decided to just ask for some games and then I will buy the console here in the UK once my uni exams are over. ;)

Definately get a UK PS3. To have to listen to Sigourney Weaver narrating the US version of Planet Earth Bluray would be punishingly difficult :D
