PS3 Games Performance Vs Xbox 360?

Naughty dog disagree with the Uncharted games?

Anyways, a tip, have you tried pressing the square button when browsing the PSN? Changes the icon table to a much easier to look at list.
That was an example of an exclusive game, as I mentioned multiplatform games tend to have the jaggies more not the exclusives. And I'm sure on the more powerful console atleast some game devs should get it right.

Not tried it no cos I only really play the PS3 on weekends (at my girlfriends) so I tend to just jump right into the games and get as much done as I can.

Good Link Wyrdo.

These threads always end up with the type of support usually associated with football teams.
People obviously think the console THEY prefer is the best. Good for them.

That link provided by Wyrdo should answer the OP's question better than a lot of the fanatical arguing in the 4 pages of this thread.

I have read a lot of the content from the links in that thread over the last couple of years.

To summarise:

Xbox is sometimes the same, but usually a bit better in the performance department.

Your question answered, OP ;)

I just meant this bit "There's nothing on PS3 that can't be done on 360."

Anyways, try it next time (square button trick) ;)

You're not looking carefully enough then. Look at the entire roof edge to edge on the top of each car and you'll notice more jaggies on the PS3 version. Lighting from car lights much less prominent (lights ground but shows none of the light going from the lights to the ground). Looking at building on the right of the top left one there's evidently more jaggied graphics too.

I'm not saying it's a big difference but it's clear to see. PS3 often has problems with jaggied graphics in multiplatform games I've seen in comparisons. And I was looking at the bottom 2 pics which have the apparent gamma change to suit the PS3.

That's a bit too much pixel peeping for me (unless it involves boobs :p) but yes I admit it is there but not something I would ever notice while gaming. However based on that you're not going too switch to an xbox except for exclusives as both machines are still on a par - at least now.

(With PS3 going to push ahead in near future haha - ok that's pure fanboy after playing uncharted 2. Unfortunately the xbox is getting consigned to back room in wait for gow3. I'll be playing BF BC2 till then going by demo on PS3 since its free online!)

Microsoft have said that current games push the 360 to its limit already.
The PS3 has not reached its limit and it is more of a case that the developers need to put more effort into their coding.

I do agree that code could also be optimised more for both consoles, more so on the PS3.

True. this is where I'll give the xbox some credit, I do think that ultimately the PS3 will win out on the amount of most graphically impressive titles but even if the 360 reaches it's limits hardware-wise game engines/coding also evolve so I do beleive that we will continue to see more graphically impressive titles on the 360 in the future also.

Couldnt agree more :D +1

You honestly think microsoft would say that? It's PR suicide. You probably heard it from some fanboys but seriously Hideo Kojima said he pushed the PS3 to it's limit so if you go by that we've already reached the PS3's limit too. It's not true ofcourse but it's just a matter of posturing and arrogance people state to (in the case of Kojima) get sales or to (in case of fanboys) demean other consoles. You'll find people said the 360 reached it's limit after gears 2 yet better looking games are coming out like Alan wake, Kingdom under fire 2 and Mass effect 2 which looked great.

I'm not trying to deface the PS3, it is more powerful and more capable of optimisation thanks to the multiple cell processing units and the advantage of blue ray. So they have some options but it's just my opinion that neither console has reached there limit.

There's so much bs out there. Bs from developers, bs from CEO's, bs from fansites, bs from reviewers, bs from PR and marketing, bs from screenshots, mockup vids, previews etc etc etc.

The gaming industry is chock full of it, and I haven't even touched on the amount that comes from my fellow gamers. It's sometimes hard trying to filter stuff out just to get at the truth.

A pretty good rule of thumb is to assume everyone is either A) lying to make more money or B) not equipped with all the facts. It's usually one or the other, most of the time.

Ah well, at least you won't go hungry tonight.

What he said is true

Consider your post

Fanboys fail to see a negative side to their console. Your comment which attempts to be non-bias lacks any negativity towards the 360.
Where is the comment that says "The Xbox is sometimes worse than the PS3"?

ofcourse if you don't believe thats ever the case.... See my comment in italics ;)

Do you think Naughty Dog saying that might not have the slightest thing to do with them being a subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment? As in Sony have bought them. Naughty Dog saying that is Sony saying that. It's beyond bias, it's marketing spiel.

Look, the answer is that cross platform games are usually better on 360, but the PS3 exclusives usually go beyond whats on 360.
Simple truth that most people have failed to realise is that the PS3 isn't magic or an infinite potential console. Like any console it has limits and it has the need for optimisation. It's slow reading blue ray drive for example is a weakness that often makes those installs mandatory but it depends on how well they develop the game (again optimisation).

The truth is that the PS3 is to the 360 simply what the Xbox was to the PS2, a single step up. It'll retain that advantage and keep pumping out better graphics exclusives but unlike the Xbox it's stricken with a somewhat tricky architecture that is messing up multi plat games. It's the first time I've seen the weaker consoles audience so rewarded for investing. Point is the PS3 will have the edge in exclusive but it's only a minor difference and just like most people stuck with PS2 rather than go for the better graphics Xbox the exclusive 360 titles can easily hold there own.
Anyway just felt like saying that, nothing annoys me more than people acting as if the PS3 is so powerful when I've been in that position when I had the Xbox and people were sticking with PS2 and didn't feel it necessary to act like my console had infinite potential. Maybe cos I had them all at that point though, dreamcast, gamecube, PS2 and Xbox.

As stated earlier it all comes down to which platform your friends use more and which you will get more enjoyment out of.

The messaging and forming groups can suck a bit playing on the ps3 but its for playing games at the end of the day not an instant messaging box.

If you are using for online play go with whatever your friends are on. If you only play online a few times a month then go with ps3 as you dont get charged for it.

If you enjoy plane noises and would like to know what its like having your livingroom on a runway get an xbox ;)

No I don't think that I'm afraid.

As above, cross platforms can sometimes be better on 360, exclusives on PS3 show the performance difference from bespoke coding.

I was quite disappointed how bad the menu's were in GRID on ps3 compared to 360 and I heard that NFS Shift had the crashes "dumbed down" on PS3 also so I'm not ignoring any facts and going into fanboy mode. Like I've said before, I have both so not in one camp or the other.
