Hi All,

I am about to get a PS3 and am currently seeing what games are available. I want to buy 2 with the console. I was thinking about Motorstorm and Oblivion although I loved call of duty 3 on my 360 when i had it. Whats oblivion like ? I've not played any of the previous Elder Scrolls games - is that going to cause a problem ? I like WoW so i presume i'll like oblivion as it sounds like a similar game.

Im not sure about motorstorm either. I've heard it's good but then I heard that PGR3 was good and i hated it - im generally not into racing games.

Cheers

Oblivion is awesome, a definate buy imo.

Resistance is ok, slow start but gets better later on.

Motorsorm, decent enough but the game has really start to **** me off recently. For a start it has rubber band AI, which is just plain annoying. The AI vehicles are also either incredibly stupid and just race as if you're not there, or overly aggresive. I've lost count of how many times I've been leading the race coming up to the finish, only for another vehicle to come out of nowhere (due to the rubber banding) and smash right into me. The most often result of this is that I get spun around, overtaken and lose the race, and the races are not short, so for this to happen right at the death is incredibly frustrating. Also, if you happen to get turned over, it takes ages before it realises you're not going to be able to get going again by yourself and turn you over.

I would certainly sell Motorstorm if there were any decent alternatives out there.

Resistance is a decent fps, good size in SP and reasonable MP.

Motorstorm is OK, but get repetative very quickly in SP, MP is better but not by much.

F1 is great if your into it.

Oblivion is superb, and you won't need any other games once your into it, as it'll eat your life away.

Oblivion is good, very large open-ended game with long life span.

Resistance is a generic mediocre run-of-the-mill shooter that is not special at all, save for the 20-a-side multiplayer.

Motorstorm is an excellent racing game, and one of the most fun to come out in recent years, I think it is the PS3's best game.

There is also Virtual Fighter 5, but it is a very marmite-like game. You either love it or hate. You are much more likely to enjoy the leaner Tekken 5 DR which is available on the PS store for a mere 6 quid. It gets an update soon that includes online play as well as extra modes such as practice, etc.

On Friday, Europe finally gets a batch of downloadable Playstation 1 games, that includes classics such as Crash Bandicoot and Syphon Filter. The PS Store also has Gran Turismo High Definition, which is like a prologue to Gran Turismo 5. A free download, quite limited but you would get a few day's worth out of it.

Totally agree with KNiVES' choices there, though I had F1 instead of Oblivion.

Not to start a war, but any reason not to get another Xbox360? Oblivion will only cost you a fraction of the price or for the same price you could get the official add-on for it, Shivering Isles.

oblvion is one of the best games ever created by far, best on PC though if your rig can handle it.

Other than that, motorstorm, Resistance, Fight Night are good aswell.

I would download the demo of Motorstorm and see if you like it first. I played the download loads and couldn't wait for the game itself - played it to death though so doesn't get much of a look in these days!

Motorstorm is the only physical game I own, really enjoyable but i've only had the game for 24hrs so not sure if its long lasting.

I really enjoy Tekken from the playstation store, its fantastic value for money, also GT HD Concept is great.

To be honest theres plenty of hours worth of entertainment from just downloading stuff off the PS Store and playing through it, download a few demos and then pick what you want to buy.

If you have never played Oblivion before, then I highly recommend that, I had it on the Xbox 360 and lost a lot of hours on that.
