PS3 HDD upgrade.. But which model ?.

Hi All

I've got an 80Gb PS3.. But I would like to upgrade it...And as it's extremly easy to do I want o give it a bash!.. Plus I'm running out of space..

Mine has a Toshiba MK8052GSX..5400 Rpm.. 150sata..

I would like at least 160GB.. But not sure if I should to stick to Toshiba or choose another make..

Any ideas... Has anyone done this on here...

Any will do from what I can gather. Just a generic SATA interface. Go for a 7200rpm drive

7200rpm doesn't really help

I read the 7200rpm hdd's cause internal temps to rise considerably, not sure how much truth is in that..

Probably not much.

There's not enough of a speed increase to justify a 7200rpm drive though.

I stuck the cheapest 320gb 5400rpm one I could get at the time in, and it's been fine.

7200 RPM drives cause lockups in my experience.

i got a 320Gb WDigital into my 40Gb PS3 i had to be careful tho as most dont fit.

Ones that do fit usually say they will.

320Gb WD 5400RPM seems to be popular - I got one for mine - was only £55 at the time...

I think it was a Fujitsu one actually.

Paid under 50 quid for it a while ago, couldn't argue with that.

Be careful, a very small minority of 2.5" drives are actually slightly fatter and won't fit in the PS3, it really is a small amount of them though.

I know the samsung 320gig drive fits, and i also quite like samsungs as they're quiet and reliable so far for me (touch wood).
