PS3 Info

Hey just a few quick newbie questions!

Can the PS3 run off VGA?
If I was to use the PS3 via scart lead ie the Yellow and 2 audio leads what would the picture and image be like?

Yes it can run off VGA, and the picture should be fine if using scart. Just not HD

It can run off VGA but you'd need a HDMI > DVI adapter then a DVI > VGA adapter and your monitor would have to allow HDCP

Also Blu-ray films play in black and white, Games and DVDs are colour though.

Bare that mind before purchasing a package that includes films.

if no HDCP you can use the component cable then a component - vgi adapter but i have no idea or hope in how good the pic would be

I sometimes have my PS3 hooked up via the d-sub vga socket I have in my non-HDCP projector. Simply used a PS3 to male component cable that then connects into a female component to d-sub vga cable. Use a good component cable though, I tried a very cheap one first and the quality was rubbish. Re-tried with the offical sony PS3 component cable and the quality is great in 720p or 1080i across a 7ft picture

its pukka

worked fine on mine 1080i and it said 1080p, but my monitor didnt do it so not sure if it could reach this, this was using a 50p chinese cable off ebay as well
