Well I think mine was probably some wifi confusion (how the remote access PSP works) with the amount of wireless devices in the flat, a few computers, another PS3, cordless phones, a 2 mobiles, though I've not turned it back on since I moved out from my flatmate to test it so that may be rubbish.
If its happening because of your remote you could try turning off blutooth on your mobile or anything else and see if that stops it.
EDIT: also reminds me of how annoying it is to associate controllers with a PS3, the only way I could firgure out to do it was by plugging it in via usb, the number of times my flatmate and I had been playing a game together on one console only for the next day for you to try and switch yours on and panic when nothing happened and then have your flatmate come through and wonder why his had just switched on. (not the same problem as the PSP remote thingum before anyone says )
