PS3 Launch news at midnight

you could say its better than forcing people who will need to buy a vga cable to pay a premium for an included component cable.

peed me right off with my 360 that did , having an expensive component cable that would never be used by me
etc would !

I don't think you were forced. It came with a cable that was compatable with 100% TVs If you are using a monitor then you are the minority. If you baught a TV that does not have component, then you are the minority.

As a point of reference I think I now own all of the 360 cables. I go a core with a composite cable, I bought a component cable, I then moved my 360 to my monitor (due to the TV breaking) and I have the scart cable on Miss Ks console (because the TV only goes to AV via rgb, due to it breaking).

I can not say I am disapointed with any of these cables. But all said and done. The standard component cable that comes with the 360 is the best cable I have ever had inclusive with a console. (and I had the whole last gen)

Im really stuck on if i should get preorder one when Game allows it online, theres been a lot of comments floating about mostily negative so im not sure.

Could you give me a reasons why i should/shouldnt get a ps3 heres what ive come up with:

Should:
MGS4, Heavely sword final fantasy series
plays your ps2 and ps1 games
blue ray

Shouldnt:
price £425
most games are coming out for other consoles
i own own a xbox360 and top end pc already

What should i do

Question

Do you have a PS1 or PS2 already ?

If you do then there is no reason to get the PS3 for this reason, if you don't, do you want to play older games? Wouldn't getting a PS2 cheap secondhand be a better option?

Question

Do you have any BlueRay Discs already? if you don't and don't plan to then this is not really a reason. It's not like there are lots of BR releases out there. And what if it won't be the standard format?

As for the games you listed, like Kreeee said, they are not out yet. So you basically would be spending £425 for a doorstop until the games you want get released.

Conclusion - Wait until the games you want are released, you'll save money too.

Yeah, there'll be great games out on it in the long run, no doubt about that.

If you want to play Final Fantasy 13 and some other games that will be exclusive to PS3 then get a PS3.

If you have an Xbox 360 already, Then wait for the price to come down.
I wouldn't get a PS3 now regardless. Get a 360 now for all the PS3 games and the 360 exclusives then get a PS3 later.

360 for solo and online fun.
Wii for quick go and party fun.
PS3 ..... we'll see. Judging from PS1 an PS2, it'll probably be good, but at least at the moment not value for money.

Before GoW the 360 was only going to have 256 MB itself but Epic showed them GoW in both 256 MB and 512 MB and convinced MS to spend the extra $1Billion to make it happen; but that also helped cause the shortages at launch.

I would imagine that if the dev's really wanted to, they could get around that sort of thing.

But isn't it also possible for them to utilize the Cell for some GPU functions also? Wasn't that the original plan - to use the Cell as CPU and GPU and it all went boobs up at the last minute?

Splitting the load between the tacked on graphics card and the cell array is not a simple task.

Ah then you will be glad to know I have not only been within 100 feet, I have actually played on the PS3.
You will note my main grevences against it are the price, the marketing (lies), disjointed online system and the fact that it claimes to be a HD console out of the box, when it comes with COMPOSITE cables which are not capable of HD resolutions. (and look **** at SD too).

I have never said that as a games console it will be rubbish, but I do think the 360 has more to offer

Fair points but look at it this way:

1) Price isnt that dis-similar to an Xbox to the same spec - ok so some like having the choice of buying later, others prefer having one purchase outright (to my mind its a 50/50 choice and therefore down to personal preference)

2)MS (and Nintendo to a lesser degree) are just as guilty at marketing blurb that turns into air/vapourware whether its Windows, general software or actual hardware

3)X360 core system also is marketed at HiDef!! To be honest I really dont have a problem with this as yes ok so either componant or hdmi cable would be dirt cheap to bundle but the actual machine itself IS HiDef, its not like for example if MS advertised the X360 as playing hidef movies and not putting anywhere additional purchase of a £130 drive has to be done first - Im not suggesting they do this Im just using it as an example

You could say that to the general public maybe all HD related items should have somewhere on the advert that you must have an HD tv to connect it to before getting the "HD" part of the graphics - I know everyone on here understands this but maybe still some punters dont

But even then there have been 4 updates to the 360 in 14 months. it isn't that perfect tbh. ANd the updates have a nasty habbit of bricking the machines

Microsoft intend to do them every quarter approx though...
They will continue to add features and of course security patches adainst mod chips/firmware and of course general bug fixes.
