I spent a few hours of yesterday and today trying to get external subtitles to stream with video files using TVersity. To no avail :( Finally, on the 11th hour I found this:

It's a quick guide to using PS3 Media Server, a java based media sharing software. You can use stock settings and it'll do great, and you can also tweak a few values if you're getting stuttering. And best of all for me, is that I can finally see the subtitles!

Yea i was actually looking online today for a tutorial on how to play just a VIDEO_TS file over Tversity. Apparently you can't, but can with PS3MediaServer. Quite a few people are now saying its better.

Is there any settings you need to tweak for PS3mediaserver? Seems like there isn't as much as Tversity, like 1080p upscaling of video and images etc.

Also, can you still transfer files over it like in Tversity to the PS3?
