PS3 Must Have Games

I'd recommend R:FOM, atleast a secondhand copy for around £12. Not amazing by any standards, but it does get better the further into the game you go with some absolutely stonking level design.
 
Still lots of people online too according to my friend who still plays this a lot. I was tempted to pick it up again second hand just to play with him online.
 
Is R:FOM the PS3's answer the GoW? The two look very similar.

Excuse the noobiness of the questions, I'm not in the PS3 gaming loop at all.
 
Definitely try the Motorstorm demo. I like it and im giving it a rent once it gets here. There is a demo of it and R:FOM on PSN. Haven't tried Resistance myself, but it looks decent.

GOW as in Gears of War? No they're worlds apart; RFOM doesn't even have a cover system for example.
 
Theyre two completely different games theyre not comparable!!

These are definitely worth the purchase imo:

RFOM
Motorstorm
Ninja Gaiden
F1
Drakes Fortune
Heavenly Sword (if its cheap coz its short).

God no. They're nothing alike, ones a 3rd person, the other is a 1st person.
I'd say Gears of War is better in Single player and Multiplayer, it's also a lot better graphically.

Saying that, RFoM is much easier to get into for Multiplayer.
 
Games i will be getting gt5 prologue , rainbow 6 vegas 2 , grand theft auto and i own call of duty 4 and assassin's creed so i recommend all them .

Ratchet & Clank is good, as is Motorstorm.
The PS3 is usually very quiet, certainly compared to the 360.
Blu-ray playback is excellent on the PS3, never had any issues with it as is the upscaling of DVD's.

But in answer to your question I would say no don't buy one unless it's main use is going to be blu-ray or it will be used in a different room to the 360.

IMO it's the best piece of hardware I've ever brought (even with one failure) but it's far to similar to the 360 to have both and use both equally just for gaming..
 
I hated Motorstorm, I could not qualify in any race in 3 hours gametime.
GT HD demo I progresed and subsequently enjoyed much more and it was free.
 
If the DVD and BluRay quality is of good standard then it will definitely be used for those qualities :)

It'll be in the lounge with the Media Centre, Wii and 360.

I'd be connecting it up via HDMI, can I buy any old HDMI cable or is the official PS3 cable different?

Use cheapest HDMI cable you can fine , there can be had for £3 ish if you look on some well known sites:)

I think I'll pick one up in the beginning of April with my next paycheck... and if I'm nice hopefully I can convince some people to chip in or get a game what with it being my birthday in April too :cool:
