Is there anything I can do to monitor how much of my download limit I'm using whilst gaming online?

Or has anyone got an average figure per hour or anything?

Don't have a clue how much it actually uses and could be helpful in sorting out overuse fees.

It'd be very minimal, gaming doesn't use a whole lot.

What sort of router do you have? Some have the ability to monitor usage.

If you have a linksys (or any tomato compatible) router you can track bandwidth usage.

Alternatively connect your PS3 to the net through your PC and use any of the many free bandwidth monitoring tools.

No one can give you a set figure as it varies wildly between games and whether you're host or not on games.

I'm using the v2.0 Home Hub.

Well, for example, out of a 10gb monthly limit, how much would you guess would be used if I was gaming 3 hours every day?

If i recall an MMO like guild wars uses approx 5MB an hour WOW is double that, i tried the guild wars myself a while back and used about 10MB in about 2 hours. FPS games tend to use more but even then i think i read 20-50 MB an hour for something like BF2 on the PC.

I'm on a 10gb limit as well, and did a little research into this a while ago. General consensus was that an hour of Halo 2 online (like I say, it was a while ago) would be about 50mb although, as others have said, it depends a fair bit on the game.

Either way, I expect you use a lot more of your limit on downloading patches than on actually playing!

Argh, lame router! :p

Just checked BF1943 on the 360 and it uses 13KB/s down and 3KB/s up.

So assuming it's just your DL limit that you're concerned with: (13*60*60)/1024 = 45.7 MB per hour
