Looking good then eh? lol

I couldn't help but notice the "60fps in game" on the right. Since when has fps been a factor of console gaming?

It matters greatly to some people. Also Sony like to 'show off the numbers', so to speak.

They are saying look at our supa dupa 1080p game running at 60FPS.

If FPS wasn't a factor, I'm sure we'd be getting some games with horrid horrid slowdown, as long as the games are at a constant framerate, then they are fine, and if they're 60fps, it looks even better, but some aren't too bothered about it than others. I certainly want games to be at 60fps, but I'm not bothered really if they are 30fps so to keep their framerates smooth.

I wouldn't dare... I'll just point and laugh at games in 2006 which run at 30fps when consoles of two gens ago ran them at 60. If you're happy with that then good luck to you :)

I still don't understand this... games have so much more going on.
I suggest you read into Games Design (there are some excellent, if not pricey, books in Waterstones) regarding physics, normal mapping, specular mapping, real time lighting and shadowing and particle effects. Thats without the larger texture maps, character AI and higher polygon counts.

The fact games are running in the most part of 30fps isn't a surprise due to everything thats running.

its a shame that apart from a couple of games done by sega (VF5 and VT) it seems that the PS3 at present that the rest of the games on show and reviewed also suffer from framerate issue's and sparse graphics AA problems much like some 360 games, could be down to unfinished code but time will tell if its lazy coding and programming or console power or the HDTV effect

But at the same time, the machines running said code are also so much more powerfull. So surely everything should increase evenly. What i think has happened is devs had a choice, increase physics and some textures and lose half the frames, or keep it at 60 and lost some of that. they decided on the former. Is it right is it wrong?? not for me to say. but i would rather a steady constant framerate, even at 30fps than a framerate jumping around the place a la MotoGP. MotoGP is a game which needs to be 60fps and it needs to be solid, but they couldnt iron it out.

Lately i have been wondering if maybe devs should stop faffing around adding silly wee pretty bits here and there why not have what they have got, and get it working correctly. Rather than working on the latest smart ****** technique maybe they should get games running smoothe without issues, like MotoGP etc with tearing and frame rate drops.
