I still don't understand this... games have so much more going on.
I suggest you read into Games Design (there are some excellent, if not pricey, books in Waterstones) regarding physics, normal mapping, specular mapping, real time lighting and shadowing and particle effects. Thats without the larger texture maps, character AI and higher polygon counts.
The fact games are running in the most part of 30fps isn't a surprise due to everything thats running.
