ps3 on sumsang hdtv through hdmi

hi all,

my bro is having some trouble getting his ps3 to work on his hdtv through hdmi. has had the ps3 repalced, and a technician over to look at the tv, but the tv is fine, as he tried a hd dvd player through hdmi which worked.

the tv model is a samsung LE37M87BD. anyone here got any ideas?

Has he tried changing the HDMI cable? or holding the PS3 power-on pad down until 2 beeps are heard?

I know it seems obvious but has he set the PS3 to use HDMI?

hes tried changing hdmi cable, not sure about the power down button thing. as for chaging ps3 settings to hdmi i think he has. cant check at the moment as he has gone off to get another 1 i think. maybe a firmware update will fix things?

I had a similar problem because the previous owner had his set on component out and i was using hdmi, so nothing was displayed on screen. Thought the PS3 was broken until i read the manual.

You just need to hold the power button down for 2 secs as mentioned, then it will reset the video settings and output on all. You can then select HDMI in the PS3s settings.

You could also connect the bog standard composite and HDMI lead and then go to the display options and choose HDMI. To be honest the PS3 should auto-switch according to the lead you plug in like the 360 does.
