Sorry if the threads been done already :)
Got myself a ps3 had this a few days; awesome bit of kit.
tbh but no PS3 friends (billy no mates) and being a PC head don’t know anyone with a PS3 other than my brother.
I’ve always resisted playing fps on a console but after seeing Resistance: Fall Of Man (PS3) I’m re-thinking this the only thing is I know my PC fps days will be over if I start to use a pad to play fps (something alien to me tbh un-natural about using pads) anyhow im early 30's looking for some mature online gaming friends.

Games on order:
Resistance: Fall Of Man
Ridge Racer 7
Blazing Angels: Squadrons Of WWII
MotorStorm

Games im playing:
Virtua Tennis 3
Call Of Duty 3
Need For Speed: Carbon
Sonic the hedgehog (for the missus)

If there’s any other recommendations please post here, my PS3 user id: TEGDAG

Resistance probably won't persuade you to stick with a console for FPS's, it's not that good in Single Player. I'm just over an hour in and I'd give it a 3/10, multiplayer however is a great laugh.

If you want to play a good FPS on a console you'd need an Xbox360 with Gears of War, Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon 2, Call of Duty 2 or Lost Planet.

I have MotorStorm, Resistance and Formula 1 which are all multiplayer, so you can feel free to add me if you wish.

You give R-FOM 3/10 WOW this is 1 of the best fps games iv played on a console for quite some time much prefer this than GOW on the 360

I thought I was being quite generous.

Seriously? i thought you would have liked it more.
It isn't as shiney as GoW, and does look bland in some places.
But the story is very good, sucks you in, though admittedly it does start off rather slow
The controls are the best i have used on a console i think, possibly timesplitters is just as good
The framerate is rock solid. Sure it is 30fps, but with the framerate issues and tearing we have been having this gen, it is a godsend.
It is also a return to the old school shooter. It reminds me very much of COD before they ruined it with COD2.

kb and mouse is the only way to play fps tbh

consoles were made for driving games and platforms :D
I disagree. Halo, TimeSplitters and Gears of War are 3 of the best FPS' I've ever played, only behind Half-Life and Quake 3 on the PC.

I thought I would love it too. I think I have owned every single console FPS game and this is definitely down there with FarCry: Instincts.

The story is good, more indepth than I expected which is definitely a good thing, especially as you know there is something amiss with your character. That bloody womans voice is getting on my **** though.

The controls for me aren't a touch on TimeSplitters or Halo, the amount of times I have fired a secondary rocket into a wall whilst trying to crouch or throwing a grenade when flicking a switch is mind-boggling... of course you'd think reversing the controls would help that... but no.

The frame rate is good, but so they should be with textures like they have. The models themselves are pretty fantastic, it's the textures that let the game down, too bland, not sharp enough and not mapped enough, I am very disappointed about that as I was expecting something quite stunning, you mention no tearing but the only game I have experienced tearing in so far is MotorStorm. I haven't had any tearing on any 360 title, even Perfect Dark Zero.

Also, I thought Call of Duty 2 was one of the best console ports ever, it was superb. Whilst not as cinematic as the first, or as dramatic, the gameplay was improved.

edit: In fairness though, it may get a lot better, as I said I'm only about an hour in, I'm hoping the game improves. Multiplayer does seem excellent though.
