PS3 only 20 days to go!!

Hi All

With only 20 days to go until the release of the PS3 will anyone be pre-ordering one, or waiting for the price to come down.

A poll might be nice

1. Already pre-ordered
2. Will be pre-ordering soon
3. Waiting for the price to drop
4. Not Interested
5. Have an Xbox 360/Wii don't 'need' a PS3
6. Waiting for more games to appear

Just an Idea

I finances allow I will be pre-ordering soon

This statement is true, i am not excited about gettting it, and if i can turn it around for profit on the day like the 360 then that will be me done until about 18 months with one. It will just be a "cheap" blue-ray player to me
 
4, this time Sony has little to bring to the market (decent exclusives), is overpriced, and the attitude they show off again and again of us Europeans being mugs is beginning to really p*** me off.

Its delayed, more expensive and overpriced than most other regions, and has less features built in than the other regions cheaper machines....err.. someone shoot me if Im wrong but that sounds like a cr*p deal...
Im hearing its not doing amazingly in America either, all I can say is hope Wii/360 grind it into the ground, and Sony takes a big rethink about what the're doing and why, or drops out, thier own arrogance and disregard has become thier own gravestone. A friend of mine at the purple shirt brigade has told me quite solidly that at trade shows they make little effort to impress, and seem to believe people should buy from them just because they're Sony, sums it up really.

Launch line up of both MS and Sony are roughly equivelant - its not just a console so why compare price of a console to this unit - its pointless and stupid

Less hardware built in - but not necessarily less features - actually I think the software emulation could end up being BETTER for old gen titles as this means its forced to use better hardware to run it, rather than the stock emotion engine etc - Im not saying it will but if anyone can do anything then its definitely the trio of top electronics companies behind PS3 (Sony with Toshiba and IBM) - IBM are already assisting dev teams with new games just to get the most out of Cell and ancillary systems. There are also thousands of back catalogue games which will run already - this will only increase in time - and look how badly MS continue to struggle with their back catalogue

The purple shirt brigade are pap themselves - so as to why they would have any decent representation at trade shows says it all really


If you were a real gamer you would see that ANY competition is good for the market - do you really want ONE company to win and the others to disappear? Wii is a great console (I will try and get hold of one along side my x360 which is 14 months old) but its not really next gen, so having just one next gen console on the market is not a good thing for any customer


Yes I have pre-ordered a PS3 and look forward to some of the games and some decent hd movies too - and am definitely looking forward to it

Same got two for profit, will decide over the next few days whether it's actually gonna make any. I dont think so anymore, cancelling will save me returning them for my money back. Even if not I dont think they are gonna get more than £50 over RRP at auction.

So I tell you what - Why not be genuine for a change and leave them in the shop for someone who actually wants one
 
I am waiting for the big games to be released...I like the look of Heavenly Sword though which isn't too far away?
 
It was 1. for me, I pre-ordered a 'few' for an obvious reason..

BUT, and it's a big BUT, with 20days to go, you can still get guaranteed preorders in for the day.. I checked yesterday, and saw at least 2 shops with signs outside stating this fact.. so this morning I've cancelled my pre-orders.. I have this feeling ebay profits will be just not worth it!...

So I tell you what - Why not be genuine for a change and leave them in the shop for someone who actually wants one

I don't think genuine people need to worry, if they can't get one off the shelf, I am sure there will be plenty at or just below RRP on ebay!..

To undo the 'spin' you've put on it, the PS3 was launched last year to the US/JAP Markets, at its launch it's line up was a poor.. even when we get ours, after all that extra time, the line-up is still only around the same quantity/quality as the original 360 launch..

A lot of 'if's.. If anyone has repeatedly failed to fully deliver on it's massive hype, I'm afraid its been Sony everytime..

Having a Jap PS3 on loan, and a 360 with HD-DVD all I can say is that on my projector the quality is superb.., I've tried it on my 46" 1080p LCD, and with 2.35:1 films with black bars, the detail is all squashed into a smaller vertical area, and seeing the extra definition becomes much harder at even close viewing distances..
 
I haven't got one pre-ordered yet I'm still considering it, the only reason atm for me getting one would be for the blu-ray player none of the games interest me yet, by the looks of things though it shouldn't be to hard to pick one up at release.

Genuine people can pre-order just as easily as I have done. Its not some friends at sony string i've pulled. Its the first time I've ever done it, as i'm sick of muppets not doing it then whining. May as well try to profit from said muppets with no patience.

People always buy and sell for profit, the fact its a console makes no difference.

Looks like there is going to be more than enough to meet the demand anyway. All the stores are sending out plenty to go round emails anyway. One selling under RRP already.
