PS3 pre ordering

Just wondering new to the playstation 3 scene , but do you benefit with a cheaper price for pre ordering games in advance or not??

Just looking at GTA pre order your only saving 40 quid on RRP which I imagine will be normal on release anyways.

Anyone care to comment ?

It's possible, I've made savings in the past, but the majority of the time it's minimal.
Are you on about pre-ordering one and a PS3 to be delivered at the same time (hence £40 saving) or do you already own a PS3?

The biggest saving is to import games from the States ( or Canada) they normally retail between £30-35 inc postage, and the main advantage is many games are out there a week or two before us. GTA4 DMC4 and Burnout Paradise was released the same week so prob would get it later for import, but games like UT3 i got in December dont come out here till 22 Feb. Main draw back of getting import games is that most shops wont trade them in, but you can always sell them on MM or auction sites.
Some of the bigger UK retailers give you £5-10 off rrp but this is sometimes the same as store price, i only pre-order special editions like the GTA4 one.

I already own a ps3. So basically my as well wait and see review etc and check prices on relaese date.

Also can you recommend a good review site ??

Recommendations for games if I like most stuff apart from first person shooters ( on ps3 on PC I love them)? is that boxing game any good final fight ??

Fight Night Round 3 is a good game, I know it was early in the PS3's life so I have a hunch that it's a bad Xbox360 port, but if it's not, then it's worth picking up cheap.

I'd recommend just asking here about games, personal feedback is much more useful than those of media sites, but I'd recommend the big three I guess;

If you want what I'd call 'proper reviews', then you could do a lot worse than buy Edge and GamesTM magazine, both are profressional in their reviews, opting for honesty than giving out marks higher than games deserve which is something I'd accuse all other magazines of.

Obvious GTAIV is ment for 360. But if you only have a PS3 then so be it.

Butttt £39.99 will be the RRP anyways >_>

It's £32.99 delivered from USA on ps3. Most ps3 games can be had £29.99-£32.99 delivered from USA as long as you don't mind waiting a week. One of the benefits in all the games being multi-region. (I never pay more than the above prices unless there is a special offer on a UK site/store or I want the game really badly like Burnout or DMC4

Well technically there are "implications" but the companies "get around" them by making the items as "Optical Media less than $20", then it is not charged Tax etc unless it gets randomly opened and they prove it is worth more etc.

Never happened to me from the 1 X Canadian and 1 X USA site I use and have used for about 2 yearsish to get ds,psp,360,ps3 stuff. Many other people use the same 2 sites as well from these forums.

I wouldnt bother tbh, always plenty copies available even for the big release like when Halo 3 came out my mate went into a Game store that day and picked up a copy no problem.
