One of my freinds works in a well known gaming hardware shop, and informed me yesterday that the PS3 was due to drop to £200 in the next couple of weeks. Has anyone heard anything about this or is he being a barsteward cos he knows im after one?

Cheers

Well an advert for a spainish game store has the PS3 at e299 next week they are usually e399, and an Italian one has 80GBs for e250, also reports of the same thing in Geramny coming next week. I smell a price drop incoming...

I smell a price drop coming also, plus I smell a PS3 slim annoucent for winter release, should get interesting now that MS could be ditching the 'Pro' sku and just sticking with the Arcade and the Elite sku's, I think that'll give Sony a chance to compete more agressively.

Hopefully this will drive down second hand prices and i can get me a bluray player in time for the BSG boxset release.

I agree wiht your nose. I think its time sony actually gave the ps3 a chance to do well with a price drop, i think the 360 has lost momentum it had.

The Pro SKU has already disappeared tonight! No longer available at supermarkets or the south american river retailer... Spooky!

I know this is about the PS3, but looking at the new box for the Elite it now does not contain any HD leads ie no HDMI and no component that seems a very strange thing to do.
Any way PS3 price cut looks like its starting next week, with the slim coming on the 30/31 August at around the current PS3 price until all old 80Gbs have gone.
