PS3 problem.

Hi,

I'm having some trouble with my 40GB ps3. :(

last night, i put gta 4 in my ps3, it started to load then it gave me a disk error, threw me back to the dash, and told me to press circle to go back.

tried it a few times and wouldn't work. so i tried MGS4, and that loaded into the MGS4 menu screen fine.

I tried GTA4 again still the same problem, thought it was the disc but that was fine, not a scratch on it. i also tried COD4, and that wouldn't even be recognised by the system.

now any game i put in isn't recognised. i havent tried dvd's or cd's yet though...anyone had a similar problem?

i havent got a receipt, where do i stand? i dont know if its in warranty or not.

okay, i'll give both methods a go. cheers for the replies. :)

just phoned them now. its gonna cost me 99 quid to fix for a new blu ray drive... i cant describe my disappointment in sony right now..ffs. its barely a year old!!!

Who did you call, the store or Sony?

i phoned sony. who said to me all 40GB consoles are now out of warranty. so i will have to pay for repair. i asked if there was anyway to wing a free repair but he said he cant do that.

i guess i just have to pay. although im not happy with sony at all... i'll be avoiding their next console. my ps1, or ps2 never went wrong i dont see why technology has got worse over the years.
 
You could try the store where you bought it and try a swap for a new one but if you lost the receipt it will be very difficult.

indeed.. :( i cant even find it on my statements for some odd reason, i think i paid part cash part card, the amount i remember paying is 290, but that amount is not on my statements because i paid part cash. damn..

all 40GB models can't be out of warranty the guy didn't even seem concerned about when I bought mine. Seems like a right pain in the backside tho man.

it is trust me, im not the sort of guy to kick up a fuss either. i might just pay the 99 quid and forget about it. cheers for the help though fella's
 
Give them another ring and you might get someone who is willing to help, it sounds like the last customer services person was being a bit too dismissive.
Good tip, if they are still unwilling start talking about the fact that a console should be fine for much longer than a year and you are entitled to a new one or a free repair and if that fails cry :p

i'll just tell them i'll go to microsoft, im sure they'll be willing to sell me a console. :D maybe that will persuade them, mind you, sony have already got their money from me :(

nevermind, i might just start sobbing down the phone, and say ive got a family to support now... :p damn im so pi*****
