PS3 question

Probably a stupid question, but having just found a bargain and bought a UK one for £285, I have a query.

Can you only get HD via HDMI? Or, can I hook it up via component?

Sorry, if it's a daft question, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it defaulted to SD if you didn't use HDMI......or was that just for BD playback?

The problem is that my HD tv and HD projector only have DVI/VGA or component - eek!

You can get component too IIRC, not sure about a VGA connection.

Thank god for that, otherwise it'd be going straight back to the shop! :cool:

The stupid thing is, I had an import PS3, but have since sold my old Panny HD tv, but not bought a replacement yet as decided to wait for 1080p to become a tad cheaper. So, am living with a 26" Dell and my Sanyo HD projector for the time being and didn't realise that neither have HDMI.

Not sure if there are any limitations with HD modes by using the component lead, maybe someone else will know that

My old Philips only had a DVI input, I bought a HDMI cable then a HDMI>DVI adaptor and it worked fine.

I use Component downstairs, anything upto 1080i.
I use HDMI upstairs, anything upto 1080i.

£285 makes me cry.

I wish I'd waited a couple more weeks before buying mine, some nice bargains around although I haven't seen any quite that cheap

Yeh me too. Must be 2nd hand, although saying that I haven't seen them that cheap 2nd hand too.

Sorry, was £285 (via referal site) brand new UK 60gb with RfoM from a certain online Jersey etailor (that's now sold out anyway)........it best turn up now though!
