Just found an updated release date list for the PS3, theres a couple of games missing on there, like Pro Evo 7, possibly because its an American list. Im going to have an expensive last 3 months of the year. After Leipzig and TGS there may be some more on the list, or a few more dropping off, nice to see about 10 exclusives there.

So many titles that my problem is going to be affording to buy them... especially Rock Band/Guitar Hero 3!

Is there anything there that is either not already out on 360 or coming out on 360 that is really good?
Lair, Stranglehold, Jericho, Assassins Creed, Rockband, GH4 and COD4 are the ones that appeal to me.

iirc Lair is the only one of those you list that is PS3 exclusive.

It gets different reviews depending on where you look, ranging from very average to very good.

After seeing a video on the Playstation Network I got really excited about LAIR but after sseing the 2nd video with gameplay footage I am not so sure it will be that great, it did not look too good and it looked very sluggish.

So what are the killer games for PS3 then? 360 had PGR and Halo3 that were 360 exclusive. Has Sony got something up its sleeve?

Halo 3 is coming out just under 2 years after the 360's release, its killer game was GOW last year and that came out about a year after the 360 release. Many of the PS3 big games are new IPs, Lair, HS, Uncharted, much like Gears was a new IP on the 360. We wont know if the're killer games till they are released and how well they do in sales. Im not sure but I didnt think that Gears would have sold as well as it did pre-release. Sony doesnt rely on one big franchise game ie Halo, each generation of Playstations have introduced new IPs and got rid of some of the older ones, I like that idea keep things a bit fresher if a little bit more unkown. Most of the older IPs will be released next year. apart from Ratchet and clank which is out in november and of course Singstar which I think will sell a lot of copies.

Isn't that true for every other console. Every console relies on big franchise, Sony is no different. Just reading post from PS3 owners confirms this (MGS 4, Grand Turismo 5 etc)

Lair already got a bad review as well, I always thought it looked crap.

But PS3 was slated for a release 2 years ago. A game takes longer than that to write.

I agree, it looked worse than I expected. It just looks kind of like the dragon bits in Eragon just you are on the dragon instead. I might be proved wrong, but first impressions and all that :(

Haze and Heavenly Sword are the 2 big titles that I see this year, both look excellent and I can't wait for them myself, especially the former :).
