Hi guys, I'm after a replacement Blu-Ray drive for my PS3 (out of warranty).

Have had a good look on the 'net, but can't locate a supplier - does anyone know of any reliable ones?

Thanks

You can buy replacement diodes fairly cheaply on popular auction sites, apparently they're not that difficult to fit but make sure it's the right one for your drive though!

There are loads of places selling the replacement lens', but I figured it would be easier, albeit a tad more expensive, just to get the whole thing replaced.

Can't believe it's so hard to track them down!

Im not sure if this is possible i know the 360 you cannot just swap the drive never replaced a ps3 drive or laser so im not 100 % .
Dont get throwing the drive away just in case to be on the safe side ;)

You tried giving sony a ring? I have had a few friends who had Sony offer them a replacement out of warrenty

My PS3 was out of warranty when my blu ray drive stopped working also, although it was only a few days out of warranty. Came on here and a few lads suggested calling Sony anyway to see if they would replace it (cheers again) and Sony replaced it for me for free, definitely worth a shot.

As a follow up...I rang Sony - he basically from the very limited information I gave him, advised me the blu-ray drive was dead, and that as I was well out of warranty (purchased around December '07), that for £145 delivered, they would swop my PS3 for a "refurbished" one.

Is this a good deal, or is it worth sourcing a replacement drive and fixing it myself?
