Hey,

Well got my PS3 this Friday so did many others, today it started to crash continiously and got v. warm...all I was doing was playing Resistance.

Returned to the place of purchase, she didnt want to refund it to be honest, but I got one.

Dont know what to do now, do I get another.. or wait a few months :(

Was round my mates last night, really didn't enjoy Gears.. I dont know why l0l.....

Rest of the 360 games are ace...ps3 has little to offer so far, will wait a few months me thinks l0l

What would the rest of you do ?

Well mine as been on pretty much constent since friday and iv never had a crash.

I think you were just unlucky tbh, If you like the console get another 1

well you obviously want another ps3 and u have the money, no point waiting a few months when u could be playing it now, be aswell buyin one again

I really want a ps3 but learnt from the issues i had with the ps 1,2 its best to wait so they iron out all of the problems :(.

Refund on everything, games too?

chances are you just had a duff unit. there havent been any major hardware issues reported in other regions so I would say get another one as you obviously wanted one in the first place as you wouldn't have bought it!

If I was you I'd have just taken it back and got another there and then, although now you have your cash back you could, as has already been said get an extended warranty.

Really wish I had a spare bit of cash lieing around to purchase me one. :(

I been playing RFOM tonight for a good couple of hours. Had one crash where the sound continued ok but the video froze. Hope this isn't a sign of the problems you have had. Although to be fair i rebooted and reloaded and carried on absolutely fine. Fingers crossed.

I'd give the PS3 another chance and hope it doesn't freeze, this is becoming quite a common problem I've seen accross a few forums.

But give it one more chance and GoW is a very good game when you sit down and play it.

I kind of know how you feel mate, I really want either a 360 or a PS3. I like the intergrated stuff with the PS3 (blueray and network adapter) but dosent really have that many game out for it, only Motorstorm and RFOM would be the only ones to tempt me. Although the 360 has more games and all my mates have them already...Does anyone know anything about the 360 Elite? I know it has a 120Gb HDD and is black (which does look sexy as) but is there anything else intergrated / new? (newtork adapter built in)

Probably just wait abit longer and see :(

I wouldnt wait if I were you - go get another one

TBH I didnt think much of resistance - had much more fun with blast factor demo than I did with R:FoM lol

No network adapter built in and no HD DVD drive built in.

I have to say this is probably the case. I played The Godfather for an hour on Saturday night and the PS3 didn't even feel that warm. It's seems really efficient at getting rid of the heat. I was worried about the reliability of it before I purchased (especially given Sony's track record with dodgy lasers in early versions of their first two consoles) so I purchased the extended warranty. However, I have to say the PS3 has been first class in this respect and hasn't given my any problems so far.

If you decide to go the 360 route (and at this moment in time its game catalogue is much better which is understandable given that the console is over a year old) then at least wait for the new revision as it will be quieter and hopefully far more reliable.

This is quite interesting. Mines never made any more noise than a very slight hum from the cooling after it's been on for a bit.

Went round my bro's last nite and his is sat in an AV rack with a glass door over the front.

Things was seriously warm and the fan was kicking in louder than ever!

I would suggest that it's critical to make sure the unit has plenty of "breathing space". Since he moved it out and put it on top of the unit it's been the same as mine.....
