Speaking to GameInformer Mr. Newell said, The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted. I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a "do over". Just say, "This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it". The happy story is the Wii. I'm betting that by Christmas of next year, the Wii has a larger installed base than the 360. Other people think I'm crazy. I really like everything that Nintendo is doing.

He's probably just annoyed that infact it didn't turn out to be a George Foreman grill, so he cant do any tasty treats whilst gaming.

Got a linky?
It was in Game Informer Magazine.

What worries me more than anything else is the fact that EA are developing HL2 for the PS3 :\.

And as for Sony not knowing what customers want... one word, Steam. ;)

Couldn't agree with that more.

The original quote is a ridiculous statement. The PS3 may not have been the smoothest launch ever, but I would put money on it matching or even surpassing the 360 in a year or so. (If they work hard to iron out the problems quickly)

Steam is great - ok so its got the same disadvantage as every other network application, but its got two main advantages.

1) I can buy a game when the shops are closed, and be playing it 2 hours later rather than have to wait a day or two for it to be delivered.
2) Its good for the environment (well, better than buying the plastic boxes).

I'd rather have won back tbh, Steam's a pita.

1. It's not the only place where you can legally download games, although personally I'd rather have a hard copy, and not have to mess about with all the unlocking crap.

2. It's not exactly going to save the world, a pretty weak advantage tbh.

oh, so you dont like steam. that's hardly end of discussion is it? millions of people use it just fine.

1) backup your steam games then. job done.

2) id agree, but the thought is there.

They don't have a choice. If anything there should be an option to not use steam, which there isn't. Weapons market is also something that can't appeal to that many gamers.

give over. of course they have a choice. if they want to play the games they get steam and like i said, they are just fine with it. they dont have to do they?

are we talking about the Steam distribution platform or choices they make in cs: s now?

exactly, and when you change computer but lose your HL2 disc you can just download it!

The only annoynce i have with steam is that it goes online when i just want to quicklyload and play a game and not have to wait for steam to do its stuff in the background. I cant find the play offline switch anymore and dont think it did much when it used to be findable.

Now that it supports paypal I can actually buy games from it easily and is cheaper then buying the hardcopy. be nice if steam was region specific though and didnt always display pricies in $

I do find Gabe's love of the wii a little odd concidering valve doesnt develop games wii/nintendo users would want to play.
