PS3 Should be Withdrawn Says Gabe

I like Steam. Except when my account has been disabled because someone hacked into it and used cheats on it.

2. It's not exactly going to save the world, a pretty weak advantage tbh.

Tbh its better than doing nothing. Its very weak imo to say there's no point doing anything because the advantage is so small.

Gabe is a total nerd he probably has Bill Gates posters plastered all over his wall.

I agree PS3 has been a disaster in terms of mass manufacturing, but it's here now so why the **** would they scrap it and start again? what a fanboy lol.

/\/\/\ Agreed... and this is a statement from a guy who makes it so that if you lose your internet connection then you can't play any of the games you have bought from them!!!

i can play HL2 offline?

Why do people bother arguing about stuff which is personal opinion?

I personally like Steam, doesn't mean its the best thing since sliced bread, just means that it works for me.

Back on topic though, I think it is a stupid thing for Gabe to say. Despite its problems Im sure the PS3 will be a success. Oh, and Im a 360 owner so not a PS fanboy or anything.

Like he cares about the opinions of the clueless masses. People is led by marketing. The prettier the marketing, the higher the fanboyism. 99.9999999% of people will NEVER program for 360 and PS3 hardware. Let the people the TRULY know decide...ok?

oooh, someone got out of bed on the wrong side this morning!

I completely disagree with everything he's said there. I'm in the 'the PS2 has sold so much, that if only half of PS2 owners buy into PS3 it will have done well' camp. I just cannot see the PS3 failing, even with a high price tag. Things, I'm sure, will pick up for it. I know a lot of people waiting for a PS3, even though the 360 is such good VFM.

I can't see the Wii outselling the 360 this year either - well, surpassing it's total sales figure.

I agree, although I think a lot of the PS2's sales figures may be made up by people who had the original and then upgraded to the slimline at a later date - not a vast amount by any means but still a fair percentage.

With respect to the Wii for being a decent and fun console, I just can't see it doing well long term. At the minute it seems to be the must have item which everyone is talking about. the problem being that a lot of these people seem to be complete non-gamers, i.e. mums, dads, aunties & uncles etc who have never been interested in video gaming before and once the initial novalty has worn off then this section of the market will probably lose interest and go back to doing whatever it was they did before for enjoyment. I'm not saying they all will, but I cant see the Wii making hardcore or even casual gamers out of a generation have never really been into that sort of thing. I like the Wii and think that a lot of people in the 360 or PS3 camps will have one as a second console, but in a few years will this be gathering dust while they are playing there copy of GTA5?

Sorry for going completely off topic there! :o

I don't see why people think the novelty of the Wii will wear off anytime soon. The DS was seen as a novelty by exactly the same people who are saying it about the Wii, yet the DS is still going extemely strong over 2 years after release with no signs of slowdown so may aswell assume that it will do well for atleast another year so that'd be over 3 years of it doing well which is over half a consoles expected lifespan.

As long as Nintendo keep producing strong first party games then the Wii will do very well

I agree Joebob, but I think Smit's post above is more relevant to the Wii. I see the Wii performing almost on a par with the DS in terms of success/sales - certainly beyond the Gamecube - it's never going to be #1 console though. And although I love my Wii it's really going to show it's age in a few years time isn't it?

(I will add that, depending on price/affordability to me, I'll be buying a PS3 or 360 to complement my Wii at a later date. :) )

Because tbh the novelty seems to already be wearing off. I know a few people who are selling/sold their Wii's already just because it isn't getting used.

tbh it is suffereing from the thing all consoles suffer from, lacking launch line up. The best game i have seen/played so far is Wii Sports, and the next game i am gonna get is gonna be Madden '07.

What i would be interested in seeing is, not how many units sold, but how many games are being sold. Sure the DS is selling a lot, but is it selling a lot of units, just so folk can only buy 3-4 titles for it?
I think people will have a larger games library for PS2/360/ etc than DS.
So if anyone has those figures i would be interested :)

Im a bit of an MS Fanboy, well an Xbox fanboy - but i dont want the PS3 to fail at all - means MS can then up prices on everything with no competition, its better for the all of us :)

At the same time though i still want the 360 to be more successful then the PS3 :p

I have been toying with the idea of getting a Wii myself, I really do think it would be great fun to play with family and friends... the only thing that has been putting me off is that once we have got over that initial laugh, will it be stuck in the cupboard on top of twister and chip n pin monopoly?
