PS3 Sound Options

PS3 Sound Options?

I am looking to get a PS3 Slim and connect it to my Dell 2407 via DVI/HDMI. That would tackle the video but what would I do for sound? At the moment I have no speakers so use some in-earphones. I take it the PS3 has no audio jack for headphones? I'm torn between 2.1 speakers and a 5.1 headset (Don't have the room for 5.1 speakers). What offers good compatibility upto about £60? Any help appreciated.

The PS3 comes with an AV port with two audio phono outputs, if you have no audio equipment that can use phono sockets you can get a twin phono to stereo headphone socket from electronic retail stores. If you want to go to a more expensive route Turtle beach do some PS3 headphone and mic sets. This set http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/efp21/home.aspx is available for approx £65 and these ones http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/efpx1/home.aspx for £55 which have now been replaced by the P21s. Best thing about these is that they also have a mic for online communication but are wired if that is an issue.

Sorry to but in, but on a similar note can anyone confirm for me that you can use the AV port connect to a stereo amp whilst connecting video via HDMI?

Cheers, I found connectors at a high street electronics stores website and I'll go get them tomorrow and use with my earphones. I've only come across the sharkoon x-tactic that surround sound that works with the PS3 but it is out of my price range. Is there anything that will allow me to use cheaper surround headsets with the PS3?
