PS3 Super Slim graphics issue

I have an issue with my PS3 Super Slim relating to the graphics. It has become corrupted over the past few days and has gotten even worse in the last day.

These two videos are more or less what has happened to my console, although the issue is more extreme for me.

Does anyone know what the issue is, and if it's possible to get it repaired?

GPU is on its way out, known as artifacts.

Time to say good bye to that PS3

Sounds like its had some good use. Time for a PS5.

I don't want a PS5. I like PS3 for playing PS1 games on. But it actually hasn't had some good use. I only bought it 3 1/2 years ago (new) and haven't used it much in that time.

If it means that much to you then getting it repaired would cost more than buying another one. I'd just buy a second hand slim from CEX or something.

It does mean a lot and I realise it would likely cost more to repair than buying a used one, but I'd already considered buying a used one anyway. I love playing MGS2 HD, which can only be played on PS3.

Yeah just pick a used one up, I got a super slim from someone on Facebook Marketplace a few months back for £30, with a few games and a controller. Bargain.
