The problems with these forums is that all of the above is totally true but for some they see the PS3 still for whats its been hyped to be.

Personally i can comment strongly on the problems and accept the situation as it is, not for fanboy reasons. Its not system bashing though its being ANGRY because of what has been said, what has been done and how things are.
To me its as if Sony dont give a monkeys towards their consumers and quite frankly have lied through their teeth on several occasions.

It seems some on these boards simply CAN NOT accept the fact that the Systems launch has been a complete mess. The sales of games to system rate has been the worst for any recent console. The systems currently best feature or reason for purchase is for Blu Ray playback not as an actual video games console. What happened to all the hype and how they were going to wipe the floor with the competition?

Quality Control
I put it to anyone to consider if the following should have been sorted prior to the machines launch and how poorly it reflects in the state of preperation Sony have been EVEN with ALL THE DELAYS....

Quirks Needing Sorted:
You need to update the machine when you get it.
720p HDTV issue and downscaling, major HDTV cmpatibilitiy
PS1 PS2 games having severe jaggies
PS1 PS2 games not possible to upscale
DVD not possible to upscale
Online Network not yet offering multitasking abilities?
Online Network not yet allowing resume of doanloads?
Online Network not yet allowing voice or video chat?
Online Network currently not supporting multiplayer gaming on most released titles (Japan Region)
Lack of quality launch lineup

OCUK users you lieing bunch of *******. I just bought rogue squadron because you lot said I could play GC games.

What a waste of money.

I dont like to sound 'Anti-Sony' after all the games I have enjoyed on the playstation and ps2, but they really have given little to no good reason for anyone to buy a ps3 at this stage in the game. I am certain they will fix a lot of things and the name alone will sell consoles, but the competition just looks too good for anyone who knows anything about gaming or knows about the lies Sony spout, which there was no need in my opinion, claiming the 360 is less powerful for example.

Yeah man, because that just doesn't happen with the 360 and Wii, does it?

I'm afraid I have to agree with everything Mr Latte has said. The single-mindedness of many posters here is appalling. The hardcore among them will likely even deny that list is true.

I will be buying a PS3, though probably not at launch.
I will enjoy the system, and the games it brings me.
I will still enjoy my 360, and the games it does better / are exclusives.

What I don't like is when a company like Sony lie, carry out acts of desperation such as shutting down Lik Sang and banning PS3 exporting, ripping off competitors ideas and denying the fact, ship so few consoles (still late at that) and then ignore Europe all together, and generally treating it's customers like ****.

I realize that there will also be competition in business, but at least for once, Microsoft (the company heralded as the most anti-competitive in existence) have done the right thing (on the most part) and made a system for the public. Sony have made a system and demanded people like it, and put up with all the mistakes made, and god help them if they don't like it.

When I first got the console at launch I didnt need to update pdz or project gotham or my console for that matter, to play online.

Nor did I.

The updates brought extra functionality, not enabling features.

I'm almost certain the console had an update when first signing into Live (although I remember that being on a console bought a month or so after launch) - the Wii certainly did on launch day. Buy a 360 now and there's an update (there's been a few dashboard updates since launch).

2009 PS3 outsells Xbox360 in USA, EU. (having already outsold the xbox360 in total units by xmas 06 in Japan)

2009 - Microsoft Announce new Xbox console to be released in 2010, Sony still to busy trying to win the last gen war to plan new console, and we're back to square one..

Uh? You HAVE to update the 360 if you want to carry on using Live.

Yes, I know that.

We are talking about at launch, to enable online play. Try re-reading what has been posted.

EDIT - I'm giving up on this thread now, as the fanboys are arriving. I've made my post, I don't need to defend it.

Have fun.
