Hi all, hope someone can help. This is more a Network issue, than Console / Game question, so thought I would ask here (I need tech-minded people). OK where to start, a bit of background. I'm basically trying to update GT5 and failing. Update gets anywhere between 1-10% and then for some reason the time remaining shoots up from ~60min to about 300min and I get an error.
The error is [80710723] which is apparently a network timeout error.
I've been trying to update for about a week now, at various times, so I can't really put it down to "server load".
We have x2 PS3's in the household, the other, has updated fine. After trawling various forums I have tried everything.
- Disable Media Server on PS3
- Set static IP on PS3
- Use OpenDNS DNS addresses
- Disable UPnP (and on Router)
- Put PS3 into DMZ on Router
- Restart Router
- Power off Router and PS3 from Wall
- Change to a Wired connection on PS3
- Changed back to Wireless connection (Signal Strength is 92%)
... nothing! It's not an internet issue that I can see, as I can use my PC fine whilst this thing is trying to update and timing out.
I checked my Router Access log and noticed it seems to struggle connecting to 62.41.85.88:80 (TCP)Web as a second later I get 62.41.85.88:80 (TCP) close connection and also 62.41.85.115. Eventually, it will get a connection which is when it seems to update, then it will close and not reconnect to anything and then I get the error. Here is an example:-
DNS lookup seems to be OK, as it reports things like:-
- inquire static-resource.np.community.playstation.net
- inquire b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net
- inquire b3.gb.np.communication.playstation.net
- inquire updptl.gb.np.community.playstation.net
etc, etc.... and nothing is being blocked / reported by the Firewall.
Now, people have said (including Sony Tech Support) to forward some Ports for the PS3. I am right in thinking, by having the IP for the PS3 in the DMZ, that I do not need to do this? Basically, all traffic is bypassing the NAT and going straight to the console, yeah?
I'm stumped! The only thing I can think of, is that the other PS3 was updated before I flashed the firmware on the Router to the latest version. I could possibly flash it back and re-test... but thought I'd ask first.
Any help, or ideas? I'm pulling my hair out, so frustrating!
Thanks.
