PS3 upgraded hd issue

Ive just put a 160gb hard drive in my ps3 it formats fine but it shows as 149gb which is correct due to the decimal calculation of GB but it shows as 130GB free usuble. Any idea why its 19GB short of the total available?

The PlayStation OS reserves 10% of HDD space for its own doings.

No its a brand new HD formats to 149 in windows also which is what it should be.

If this is correct 10% of 149GB is not 19GB.

This is before any back up restore has been btw.

The PS3 does reserve a percentage of available hard disc space which is where the 19gb has gone. (I'm not sure what percentage this is though, and I'm not sure if it free's it up when you get short).

Cheers for the info, a mate at work has the same size HD and he's gonna check his and let me know tomorrow. Does seem an awful waste though.
