Hi Guys

This is not a which is better question,it's just that I have had my PS3 since they came out,and I don't like many of the games that are available.

Being an FPS fan,I am told that an X-Box may suit my needs better, except for Gran Turismo 5,I can't see me using it for anything else.

I would like comments on the suitability of the X-Box games, and have the reliability issues that dogged the original X-Box been resolved?

Many thanks

Alan

Had mine since launch, 5 years and its the 2nd best console i have owend behind the N64

Games are top and pretty cheap now for the classics.

I have both, they are both as good as each other IMHO - the deciding factor has to be what kind of games you like.

I find 360 games such as Halo, Modern Warfare 2 are infinitely easier using the 360 pad, but thats just personal preference.

I don't like paying for a mediocre service but I guess it's going to be mainstream in 5 years so I've given in.

it's overall a better experience.

Having both HD consoles is always ideal TBH, so why not get a 360, mine dont get much use but its was still a worthwhile purchase. As for controls, looking at some Socom and KZ3 vids i think using move and navcon looks like it could be better than any controller for either console.

games are swings and roundabouts really, you need both to get the best of both worlds tbh

the pad you get used to, nowadays i don't feel THAT much of a difference (like some would make out on here in the coming posts)

Xbox live i hated paying for personally since it is simple a p2p service, you get cross game chat and supposedly better quality voice chat
Other than that there is no difference worth noting bar higher pings (player hosted games for the most part) and a slightly less mature player base (it's bigger? so i guess its inevitable)
Oh and there is less patching than on ps3 with all the advantages and disadvantages that come with that.

The interface is different, it again comes to personal preference (personally i prefer the ps3 since they did the whole flashy version on the xbox)

You should probably take into account that you have an additional large power block you need to put somewhere and it is significantly noisier

I agree with most of your other points but the power supply on later Jasper 360s and also the 360 S is quite a bit smaller. Also the 360 S is significantly quieter... they finally appear to have solved the DVD drive noise issues for the most part. I wouldn't say there's really much of a difference between it and my PS3 slim to be honest.

Being charged to play it online is enough to put me off. And the fact that it is hacked and you get cheaters online.

Just dont get the 4gig version if you do as you will have problems with playing some games.

grab a 360, its always good to have both platforms. imo the only major difference between the two is that the ps3 controller is junk next to the 360's

Get one man. Have to say, my PS3 is getting no love these days and probably won't until the ICO/SotC game comes out. There are literally ten titles out of the whole game catalogue that are worth having on PS3, the rest generally are better played on 360. IMHO. :p

New PSU is significantly smaller and the 360 S is virtually silent. Even the later Jasper revision of the classic 360 was pretty quiet.

I've got both. The 360 gets used 95% of the time. Of the 5% on my PS3 most of that is Blu-Ray. It might get used more when GT5 finally gets released.

Since you have the PS3 and a PC, what games would the Xbox allow you to play?

I am told that the X-Box is better for FPS games than the PS3,(More of them), the Halo series looks good and there seem to be more FPS titles released for the X-Box than the PS3.

The controls also seem easier to use,I do not get on with the PS3 pads and the Analogue sticks are not nice.

Just my opinion.

All I have to do now is decide which X-Box to get?

Alan

Ok, so you would get Halo. What else? I can't seem to see these many games that aren't also out on the PS3 and/or PC.

I have both consoles and I prefer the Xbox 360 control pad for most games. If a game is multiplatform, I'll buy it for the Xbox 360.

that's fair enough but if he already has the PS3. To buy an Xbox 360 just to be able to buy the xbox version of a multiplatform game is madness. I'm trying to find what these exclusive FPS games are, seeing as he also has a PC

Not FPS in all cases but

Gears of War 2, Alan Wake, Crackdown, Crackdown 2, Dead Rising, Fable II, Halo 3, Halo 3:ODST, Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Kameo, Saints Row are good ones to play.

Nothing necessarily spectacular to warrant a purchase of a 360 outright, I'd say, if you've got a PC.

Alan Wake is a good one. Most of those seem older now. Fable 3 is going to be on PC. Dead Rising 2 is multi-platform. Other than that it just seems some of the older games.
