PS3 User Considering X-Box 360?

New PSU is significantly smaller and the 360 S is virtually silent. Even the later Jasper revision of the classic 360 was pretty quiet.

I've got both. The 360 gets used 95% of the time. Of the 5% on my PS3 most of that is Blu-Ray. It might get used more when GT5 finally gets released.

Fair enough :)
Oddly atm with the exception of Halo Reach my xbox hasn't been on in months so my view may be a little skewed as i seem to love the one i am playing most at the time lol :)

If you are just going to play the multi-platform games it is crazy to waste your money on a new console :S

I am told that the X-Box is better for FPS games than the PS3,(More of them), the Halo series looks good and there seem to be more FPS titles released for the X-Box than the PS3.

The controls also seem easier to use,I do not get on with the PS3 pads and the Analogue sticks are not nice.

Just my opinion.

All I have to do now is decide which X-Box to get?

Alan

If you can afford a 250GB one get it. There are a lot of fantastic XBLA games and it's worth installing games for silent running.

I'm with ic1male; I got a PS3 in March and after a few months continuous play with some fantastic exclusives, I've come back to the 360 and haven't used it for anything other than Blu Rays for months.

Shooters? You could pick up a 360, Halo 3, Halo ODST & Halo Reach, Gears 1 & 2, GRAW 1 & 2, COD2, MW 1 & 2, L4D 1 & 2, Orange Box, and even Mass Effect 1 & 2 and be busy for a long time :D

Yes but most of those are on the PC, whic he already has. Unless he doesn't play games on it, I don't know.

I've got PC, Xbox360 and PS3.

PC gets a lot of attention, nearly all xbox360 games end up on PC. Alan Wake, Forza 3 etc are games that make owning a 360 almost worhwhile.

I use my PS3 a heck of lot more now then I used to. At one time it was getting no attention at all, decided to sell it but thought better of it.

I find the, well now that is the combination of PC and PS3 is a good balance. The PC has many games that the 360 gets whereas the PS3 is excellent for the odd exclusive, the odd PSN game such as Wipeout HD or Zen pinball etc and the 360 I've got sits gathering dust...

It never gets a look in TBH. Forza 3 held me for a while, and I'm now considering selling it.. Reason I perhaps won't is due to the now bottomed out second hand prices on a 360.

If you have a PC and a PS3 you're nearly pretty much covered for gaming. 360 does have good exclusives, but is it worth it for just a few titles? Maybe, I did after all buy a 120GB elite for Forza 3...

but it does now gather a lot of dust, and with no wireless and no optical out on my model, the PS3 has these features built in, I can see why I don't use it too often anymore.. Plus my PC feeds most needs in regards to playing FPS etc.

Well,I do play a few games on my PC,but I also use it for recording.

I bought a new Samsung LCD TV for the bedroom on Saturday, and as it is full HD,I decided to fire up the PS3,if only to play a Bluray film.

After the OS had updated itself,I had a look round the Playstation Store, and there were no titles that I was moved to download.

I bought a PSP only to find that the games were non existant,my Wife bought a DS and there are lot's of titles on that.

Seems like whatever I choose,it's always the wrong one.Ho Hum

At least if I had an X-Box,I would have more choice, that's all.

Alan

I have all three (PC, PS3 & 360) But I really don't buy many games for it outside of XBLA. I really like some of the XBLA games. It annoys me that we are expected to pay for the online membership as an ongoing annual fee. Yes you are covered with a PS3 and PC, but hey if you can afford an extra box then why not.. Do go for the slim though as the previous incarnation of 360 was a noisy unreliable pile of tosh.

Get one man. Have to say, my PS3 is getting no love these days and probably won't until the ICO/SotC game comes out. There are literally ten titles out of the whole game catalogue that are worth having on PS3, the rest generally are better played on 360. IMHO. :p

Yeah would probably agree. Own both consoles, and for the most part games look and play better on 360. Few exceptions like, Darksiders and Res Evil 5 (horrific screen tare on both on 360)

OK,so which X-Box do I go for?

I see Game have the 250GiG for £149 with 3 games.

Is that a good deal?

What FPS would you recommend to start with?

Alan

It's the 4GB for £159.99 with 3 games, I think. I'd recommend getting the 250GB HDD model though. By installing the games to the HDD you'll reduce noise and wear and tear on the DVD drive.

I couldnt choose between xbox and PS3 so bought bought both.

Best of both worlds as you never miss an exclusive and can pick and choose what platform you have your game on depending on frame rate / price etc..

I have both, and nine times out of ten, my Xbox will be used.

+1

The integration of achievements and online play is far better on the 360 and that's the main reason mine gets used. That and the superior controller.

Would it not make more sense if you havent played to wait for PS3 version early next year with its extra content? Is there not a more FPS related deal doing the rounds somewhere ?

Not really since the PS3 doesn't get the original Mass Effect so it's gonna be gimped and mess with the overall experience.

The save game import was a great feature and added a lot to the experience I think.

He could play Mass Effect 1 + 2 now on the PC. I still don't see what he is gaining by buying an xbox 360 when he already has a PC and a PS3

Having just finished both, I'd say you're right, Marg. There are loads of little touches in ME2 that just won't mean a single thing if you've not played ME1. They're going to have to remove them from ME2 on the PS3 otherwise it's not going to make sense, I think.*

*Not the main storyline - just the little extra bits and bobs.
