PS3 User Considering X-Box 360?

Have to admit if you plug a 360 pad into a PC most of the modern games even have the correct button sequences on screen now as well, so apart from the graphics you don't really feel like there is much of a difference between the two. However if you want to play some of the 360 only titles like Halo Reach then if you have the money I don't see why not. I think having a PC & PS3 is probably the best bang for buck solution to having the largest catalogue of games.

^ agreed, I play fallout 3 on PC using the pad. I know I know, WHY ITS AN FPS. but its because i like to sit on my butt on my couch and play it.

PC + 360 pad is a brilliant brilliant investment. I only miss out on games that my PC cant run, such as Mass effect 2 and dragonage. =( but thats because i'm on a single core (dated PC fail)

And its the reason my next purchase is a PS3 and a quad core lol

Hi All

There seems to be a lot of people here who have both PS3 and X-Box,as well as a PC.

Wife has a DS and I have a PSP,as well.

I am playing the Mass Effect 2 demo on the PC,downloaded it yesterday but,as I said I use my PC mainly for recording,so I don't want to fill it up with games.

I was attracted to the X-Box by the Halo games, and the PS3 by Gran Turismo.

Personally I think it would be nice to have both, surely there must be something to say about being able to choose which platform to play a game on.

Also,I have not read one comment on this thread saying that either systems graphics are better or worse than the other or reliability is a problem.

I still haven't decided definately whether to dive in or not,I think I will head over to the X-Box site and check out YouTube.

Thanks for all the comments so far.

If you don't want to play games on the PC then that's fair enough but in terms of 'filling it up' a 500gb HDD is £30 and a 1TB just short of £50. It's just when you first said FPS games like Halo, I can't help but think that there aren't any others. There's nothing bad about the xbox apart from the fact that most of its games are on the PC or PS3. Of which, you have both. It's crossed my mind in the past to get one but when I thought about it, there's only Alan Wake that I would instantly buy. I'd probably get Forza 3 but saying that, there's plenty of decent driving games out that I've never even played the demo of.

Think I’m going to have to agree with him. The PC and PS3 combination is the better all round solution.

I got an xbox360 for Forza 3, and I really did mean to pick up Alan Wake, but other then this I’ve not got any more use for an xbox360 - at this time, as I can use my PC or PS3 for nearly everything else..

I use my PC with an additional 500GB HD for gaming, it keeps it all nice and neat and means I’m not using the O/S or media storage space up for gaming. As said a decent sized HD isn’t going to cost the earth.

It is entirely up to you, an xbox360 has many fine games, many of which you can play on your PS3 or PC mind, and the 360 controller is very good, again something you can use on your PC.

You need to weigh up if using a 360 controller on a 360, playing Halo Reach, Forza 3 and Alan Wake is worth £200 or more once you’ve got the console, charger pack, games and a HDMI cable etc..

I reckon you’ll end up buying an xbox360, I know as I did when I had the same itch you’ve got. It won’t be a poor purchase, but I bet after six months you go back to a PS3 when GT5 is in your hands etc….

Well mame, you certainly talk a lot of sense, and so does iv-tecman.I have spent the morning comparing the games on PS3 and X-Box 360,and I must admit that there is very little difference between the 2 systems.

Iv-tecman is correct when he says that I won't give a monkeys when GT5 drops on the mat,or possibly F1 2010,which is only about 1 week away, though I never did like codemasters stuff, but we will see if they have learnt by past mistakes and made the controlling of the cars more PS3 like.

I am not now going to rush out and get an X-Box 360,and if I do get one,it will be an impulse buy, though I must say Forza 3 and Halo Reach look excellent.

I shall go back to the Mass Effect demo and see if it can persuade me to buy the full version of the game.

In my experience xbox 360 has far more laggers online ruining games.
Because kids and eastern europeans cant afford ps3's (remember it's almost 2 and a half times the cost of a 360 in europe) and use mummy & daddys shoddy adsl connection with a bad upload such as bt internet.

My only problem with the ps3 is that there's always a huge gap between the must have games such as gt5 twisted metal mortal kombat 2011.
Starting to think may as well sell my ps3 now and simply buy another in spring 2011.

fifa being next gen on pc is another nail in the coffin of consoles if you ask me and could be one of the reasons they never released it on pc am sure microsoft and sony are aware that millions pretty much only play fifa on their consoles.

C64 - I too felt like selling my PS3. The system does have titles you can play until the ones you mentioned come along, and I'm sure you can find other usage for the machine.. doesn't make sense to sell a console, only to buy it again later to play games. Been there, done that and its mostly not that cost effective either.

Mass effect on the PC is excellent, its meant to be on the PC anyhow. The controls using keyboard and mouse are better then the 360 selection ring. Only downside, you need to play it with a keyboard and mouse and makes it tricker to play in the living room on the sofa.. PC version performs better as well, no screen tearing - the 360 had some awful screen tearing.

asimmd - I'd go and get a copy of Wipeout HD + fury on the PS3 PSN store, its a very addictive and excellent looking game, it'll give you many hours of fun before GT5 arrives.

F1 2010 on PS3 has been built for consoles, well its on PC as well but it'll play well on a PS3. I'm sure codemasters have done a decent job with this one. So, Mass Effect on your PC, F1 2010 on your PS3, GT5 on your PS3 in a few months.. Nah I think you've got enough to hold your interest for now. If after all this you still want an xbox360 - buy one.. and get forza 3.. That is a good game BTW.

I think a lot of my problem is something C64 said,"My only problem with the ps3 is that there's always a huge gap between the must have games"

That about sums it up really,I'm bored.

Oh well, next question is whether to get F1 2010 for PC or PS3?

Well if it's PC,I will need a Pad,I can't play racing games with keyboard and mouse.

Decisions Decisions

Could get the logitech driving force gt - works well for pc and ps3 so you can get f1 2010 on steam and play gt5 on ps3. That's what I'm doing. :)

I get bored of games quickly too. I bore of waiting for the next big thing. Reason I skip between PC and consoles so quickly. PC and PS3 seems to be holding my interest, anyhow if you get F1 for the PC get a pre order in on Steam as the game is now digital download on PC only. Steam have it with 10% of if you pre order £26.99.

PS3 version is pretty much the same as the PC just lower screen res etc.

The logitech DFGT is a damn fine wheel, and you can use your DS3 pad on your PC you now... go to motioninjoy.com and use your PS3 DS3 on a PC and save a few quid buying a 360 gamepad for the PC.

To be honest, as you've got a PC and a PS3, you just need some games to hold your interest... Have you thought about Fallout 3 or even Fallout las vegas? Pretty decent FPS with a bit of RPG in there for the mix... That'll keep you going on either PC or PS3..

had both from launch and recently swapped them for the new super quiet ones.. xbox for multiplayer and ps3 for solo classics lke mgs4.

until they both relax and stop trying to prove who has the biggest willy I think we are stuck with both consoles for a complete experience to be honest.
