PS3 User Interface

apparently the icons are really hard to see a sofa distance. and if the game has bright colours on it and u pause the interface comes up but u cant see it cos the game is bright.

Don't like how the previous set of icons are still visible after you have clicked on them, makes the screen cluttered and confusing IMO.

They could have been a bit more inventive than just using the PSP Dash could they not? :o
I think it makes more sense to use a UI similar to the PSP. It'll make it more familiar to people that have a PSP.

More originality from Sony. I'm sure in terms of funcionality it is perfect, but people want things to do more than simply function well, that's more like a minimum requirement.

I did originally like the look of it, but it does look quite poor now, and the font size is tiny, which I guess people running at 1080 will be squinting to try and actually read it on a TV unless they've got 42in+ or something :)

I guess they'll have a lot more in it later on, but it does seem lacking of any sort of character at all at the moment.

Hmmmmmmm interesting.

I think daveyD has hit the nail on the head. It seems to be lacking character. That little something that the 360's dashboard has.

I assume of course it will be personalized like the dashboard but to what extent?

EDIT: now I have actually watched the video all of the way through I am well

Is it just me but are allthe things that are great about the 360's dashboard either missing or hard to find on the ps3s interface.

IE on the dashboard viewing your messages is easy as it appears on the first screen you are on, as does live and your friends list. On the ps3's menu it would appear that you have to trawl through a few menus to get to it.

Plus it does seem to be well lacking any visual element at all. It looks tiny compared to the screen size, why not make the icons bigger?! (possibly just the view rather than the real thing)

lol i hope thats sarcasm, the word originality coupled with sony in the same sentence doesnt quite fit.

I really hope Sony adjusts the font size for each resolution, as those people with a normal SDTV would just see a line of bur if it did have that kind of size on it. That's what the 360 does well, it keeps the same scale on screen, just the higher your output resolution, the nicer quality that info is, instead of using say the same number of pixels for a word, just it gets smaller and smaller to the eye when you increase the resolution.

I'm sorry but I'm no X360 fanboy and that interface is horrible. Don't they have any imagination whatsoever? It looks like the menus I make in Nero for my DVDs.

Lets hope they change it because I'll be falling asleep as soon as I turn it on.
