Hey,

So I first noticed the "copying prohibited" thing with SF4, and thought it was just so that noobs wouldn't share their saves and unlock all the characters easily. Now just started KZ2 (which I planned to play across 2 different PS3's - mine and my parents') and this game has a protected save also?!

What's that all about :( is there any way around this? If you did a system backup, would that save file also be backed up (and subsequently restore-able)? If not, that would be very annoying!

Cheers,

Suman

[edit] Also, when you use the backup utility, is there anyway of stopping it backing up the entirrrre hard drive?! I don't want it to back up all the game data and videos which is like GB and GB of nonsense that can just be reinstalled! Surely there is a quicker way of just backing up system settings, save games (including protected ones!) etc.?

As far as I know buddy if you just want to save "save" files then you ave to do it singularly, game-by-game... But I would also like to know if there is a quicker way.

I'm guessing it's for the same reasoning as why Microsoft don't allow it. As soon as you have rewards systems based on completing certain tasks within games, you can't allow saves that have those tasks completed. It'll also be down to multiplayer advantages for high ranked players.

Hey,

If you restore a console "image" (from a different PS3), does all the existing data on your console get deleted?

Cheers,

Suman

If you connect the hdd to a computer you should be able to copy the saves (assuming you can read the filesystem).

You cant. I PS3 dont give the drive a actually driver number or what ever lol. So a PC can not reconise it.. it just dont show up. You can find it with certain programs but getting the data from it is a different story. I couldnt find a way anyway.

I know all this as my ps3 died and when i asked sony if id need to back up all my saves etc, They said no, So i didnt got new ps3 slapped old HDD in and it wouldnt let me go any further without formatting the drive first! So i tried to save everything using pc but failed :(

if i were to upgrade from a 80gb to 160gb hd, and used the ps3's backup and restore features, would it have "protected save files"?

basically, would i still be able to play the games and continue to get trophies without having to start all over again?

i ask because, i once copied my game data to my brothers user (same ps3), but he wasn't able gain trophies, messages would pop up saying "you did not receive a trophy".. or something along the lines
