PS3: What do I need?

It's got built-in Ethernet already - they didn't take it out of the 40GB version did they?

I do apologise, it was a typo. I meant to say network cable. It does indeed come with a network port, i mistyped it. I meant to say if you want to connect the console via cable then you will need to buy the cable as IIRC it doesnt come with one.

Sorry.

Was just about to say that, they are neater and more user friendly.

Im gonig to be using the controller for the time being, might get a remote if I can get one cheap.

Wifi is perfect for me, so even if it did'nt have a ethernet connection, its not the end of the world.

Also, is the 40GB version the same physical size as the 60GB version?

I love my remote, use it for everything (but gaming obviously), Its just easy to pick up the remote and move around the xmb, download stuff etc.

Plus I watch a lot of movies on my PS3 which is the reason I got the remote in the first place :)

Well worth it imo.

Also to bear in mind 40GB version is pretty silent compared to the 60GB one, not that the 60GB one is monstrously loud or anything.

It definitely has wired ethernet since I'm using it now. :p

I have a US 60GB console to compare with and unless you are desperate for PS2 emulation and don't want an additional PS2 laying around then go with the 40GB, you can always upgrade the HDD later.

Sorry.

Mine came with an RJ45.

Does the 40GB have WiFi built in?

Yes.

Things the 40Gb doesn't have that the 60gb does are:

1) No card readers (sd, ms, mmc, cf) on 40GB
2) 2 USB slots only on 40GB
3) No support for playing you old PS2 games.
4) 40Gb HDD instead of 60GB

These are the only differences in "features".
